"Because he did this to me."
"Because he did this to me."
"Because he did this to me."
Those words rang in Delilah's mind for what seemed to be years. Why would Drake do something like that? He has no reason to even talk to Hunter, why would he beat him? Hunter hasn't spoken to Delilah in over a week. He's been skipping school, ignoring Jack and Grace, it's like he fell off the face of the earth. Delilah tried going over to his house mulitple time, but he would never answer the door. She must've left over a million texts and voice messages on his phone, but he was disconnected from his life. Now, Delilah laid on her bed, trying to do the same thing.
Delilah's visions were getting worst. She couldn't go two steps without seeing a new tragedy. But, they were worst. They were getting bloodier and gorier. Delilah wished they stopped, they needed to stop, but they couldn't, not without Hunter.
There was a knock on Delilah's door. She shot up, thinking it was Hunter, but it wasn't, it was Grace and Jack.
"Hey," Grace said. Grace was in jeans and a bright green shirt with her normal collar and he hair was pulled back into a ponytail. She looked different, much different to Delilah. She was extremely pretty, but she looked older in this outfit. It definietly threw Delilah off balance. What kept her balanced was the fact that Jack looked the same, but it was also weird for them to be hanging out, alone.
"Hey?" Delilah said in a questioning tone, "You look different today."
"Do you like it? I thought I would try something different," Grace said giving a little twirl.
"Yeah, yeah, it looks pretty. So, not to be rude or anything, but, why are you here?"
"Delilah, we're worried about you and Hunter. Both of you have been acting different and we're tired of being left out. We want to know what's up and we want to know now," when Grace finished the final word, Jack intertwined his fingers with hers. She nudged closer to him and they both smiled. Jack actually smiled. Jack was actually showing another emotion besides hatred.
'What the hell is going on today?' Delilah thought.
"Okay, okay, you guys will get answers, but first, are you two like, a thing now?" Delilah asked. As an answer, Jack just kissed Grace on the head, causing her to giggle.
"Weird," Delilah said under her breath. She never would have imagined that Grace, the spunky little girl with flowers and never has a frown on her face, would be wearing these clothes and be in a relationship with Jack, the boy drenched in black and never has a smile on his face.
"Okay, enough about us, we need to make sure you two are okay." Grace said. Jack has stayed silent this whole time.
"Grace, we're fine, we're just, going through something."
"We're not leaving here until you tell us why you and Hunter don't hang out with us anymore." Delilah couldn't tell them the truth, she had to keep what has been happening a secret. She couldn't say Drake possibly beat Hunter until he was bloody. She couldn't possibly say that their best friend could be in Africa for all they know. But, Delilah also knew they wouldn't leave until she gave them a good excuse.
"Look, Hunter and I are just in a fight, that's all."
"What about?" Jack and Grace said in unison.
"Okay, one, that is very creepy, please don't do that again, two, it's nothing, just I think he's keeping secrets from me," what Delilah said wasn't a lie, it was just avoiding some truths.
"Not my OTP!" Grace shouted. Delilah didn't understand what OTP meant, nor did she really care, she just wanted them out of her room. Grace let go of Jack and came over to sit on the bed with Delilah.
"Are you sure that's it? Nothing else?" Delilah knew Grace had picked up on her lie, but she had to get them off her back. Delilah felt heat rising off her skin from being put under the spotlight. Delilah gave her most convincing smile and said, "Yeah, I'm sure."
"Well okay," Grace said while standing up, "in that case, Jack and I were going to a movie, do you want to go?"
"No, I'm okay, I don't want to be a third wheel," Delilah thought Grace would try to convince her she wouldn't be the third wheel, but instead, Grace just shrugged and grabbed Jack's hand. Delilah could tell he was relived she didn't go with them. Grace gave a little goodbye and led Jack out the door. Then, all Delilah did was sink back onto her bed and stare at the ceiling, the same words running through her head.
