Chapter 28: Matters Into Your Own Hands

Vanitas was sitting in his room as he had his black Organization XII coat back on as he he had the hood over his head as he stared at the ceiling.

"You didn't have to leave, you know."

Vanitas sighed at Ventus' voice as he closed his eyes.

"I don't know what else to do." He said. "This just seemed like the only option I had left."

"Or it's because...you're afraid what Mayonaka will think of you."

"I already helped out Sienna and Takeo. That's all that matters to me." He growled a little.

"Is that really what you think? Are you listening to your words instead of your heart? You're better than this, Vanitas. You live your own life with your own choices. Don't let Xehanort take that away from you! He was the one who deceived you in the first place!"

"...What do you mean?" Vanitas started to become more suspicious.

"While you were in the old Organization...he tricked you and everyone else who was part of it. You and the others were that old geezers heart tank! That's what you'll be again if you don't leave!"

"But...I stayed behind for a reason. I stayed behind to keep Mayonaka safe." He said angrily.

"You really think leaving her in the dust is a good plan?! She didn't ask for this! She didn't ask to choose between Light and Darkness! She didn't choose to choose between her two best friends! How do you think she feels seeing Kuro being next to you in the same coat?!"

"But...I.." Vanitas tried to find the right words.

"No 'buts', Vanitas! You need to make your choice! Stay and become a heart tank again, or leave to be with the person who loves you!

Mayonaka made her choice already. Light or Darkness...she chose to be in between them! You said you were Darkness to me and Sora...how about making a new choice?"

Vanitas knew Ventus was still waiting for his choice as he sighed. Of course he hated the Organization. He hated what Xehankrt was doing...and what he wanted to do to Mayonaka. But if he left...Kuro would now try to kill him and Mayonaka. Unless...he can be brought back in the light. Mayonaka barely made it out alive when she left...but let's see what would happen to Vanitas.

"Hey Ven." He said.

"Yeah?"

"...The clock's ticking." He smirked as he stood up. He put his hand in front of himself, and Void Gear appeared in his hands.

"That's what I wanted to hear!"

Vanitas smirked as he nodded his head as he looked at the door in front of him. He was going to find the exit and he was going to be with Mayonaka.

"Let's see how long it will take for the old coot to figure it out."
