celena quietly exited the room with a giddy smile.
she entered the hallway leading to the dungeon when she heard soft voices speaking from inside it.

"that girl must be bothering you a whole lot, isn't she?" someone asked

"a lot,"

celena knew that voice. in fact, she had spent the past few days listening to the voice for long periods of time. she suddenly felt uneasy and instead of entering, she lingered outside the dungeon.

"she keeps talking to me when i don't feel like it. she's like a puppy that always wants attention, except im the one being locked up. she obviously can't take a hint. jeez, it really bothers me how someone could be so blind to others feelings. i didn't even ask for her life story but she still told me.," harvey added

celena cowered away from the dungeon and began exiting the hallway. she had heard enough for her to be heartbroken. she knew that she could be clingy and get attached easily, but she had never stopped to think how others would think about it.

of course, harvey probably felt tired of her, and it probably didn't help that he was always behind bars when they talked. but celena found his company enjoyable.

reason being, harvey was her first "friend" that wasn't part of the supernatural natural community. though he is technically related to it, celena couldn't help but see him as a human.

besides that fact that he was once a human, harvey gave off this aura that hunters usually wouldn't give off. but that could also be because he didn't fully transform.

it finally felt like she could make friends with human beings again. since harvey is still technically human, it gave her small hope that she could somehow find a way to live amongst the humans one day.

but how was this all her fault? celena only wanted to make a friend. if he found her company annoying then he should have said something instead of leading her on.

she stormed past georgia and juniper angrily. somehow, her overwhelming sadness had converted to anger. she stomped heavily up the stairs on purpose, and she closed the her bedroom door with much force.

a splintering sound came from the door way.

she ran her fingers through her thin hair, tugging on it until it conflicted pain. celena let out a long sigh of despair and jumped up and down.

celena is very short tempered and gets angry easily. her closest friends would joke about her being bipolar because she changes moods quickly. though it wasn't something to joke about.

"stupid, stupid, stupid!" she yelled each word louder and louder, "humans are the blind ones, not me!"

abruptly, a loud jolt came from across the room. she flinched and peered from her hands, which instinctively went to cover her.

on the other side of the room were black marks with steam coming off it. her wooden floor now had a patch of charred wood. she spun and searched the whole room with her eyes, but she couldn't find anything or anyone that had done that.

instantaneously celena felt her fingers tingle and electricity pass down her arm. a sudden realization hit her. tentatively, she glanced at her hand.

spiraling around her whole bare arm were purple and yellow bolts of lightning.

celena stared at her hand in horror. though the last time she had ever thrown a lightning bolt was 27 years ago, the feeling of electrical energy was too familiar.

"let go of me you filthy animal!"

little celena cried, "please don't kick me out! i didn't choose to be like this! i just wanted to be human!"

the human woman snickered, "oh have some pride. you know what's worse than a monster of your kind? a monster impersonating to be a human. you disgust me. now get out before i call the cops."

celena fled the bakery and back to the council house. her tears didn't stop flowing, nor did they slow down. she had to constantly wipe her red eyes so that she could see where she was going.

"celena! what's wrong my dear?" clary asked once she saw the crying girl

celena shook her head and tried to move past clary, but the older woman refused. clary held celena by her shoulders and stared in her eyes.

"what happened? shouldn't you be helping out at the bakery?" she cooed

"they hate me! i hate me! why do i have to be a specialist? we're useless and everyone hates us!" the heartbroken girl sobbed, "i just wanted to live a normal life! i wish i didn't have these powers-"

celena stopped short was a painful gasp. she held her stinging cheek in her hands tenderly and glared up at clary.

"if you speak anymore nonsense, i will kick you out. go to your room and think about what you just said. don't you realize all the advantages we have?" clary scolded

celena held her ground and straightened. she didn't back down to clary, ever.

"advantages?" celena scoffed, "do you call living in fear that humans will find out the truth about you, a life with advantages? no, the life we live is pathetic! humans get to do everything, while we get hide in the shadows! i hate this!"

clary took the small girl by the arm, dragged her up the stairs, and threw her in her room. with daggers for eyes, clary stared down at celena with disappointment.

"fine, live a human life if you want. i won't stop you, but don't you ever forget that you are a specialist in blood. let that haunt you," she spat

after clary left, celena rolled into a ball. she sobbed until the sun fell and everyone had gone to bed. she regretted everything she said, but that didn't change the fact that she meant it.

she hated living in fear. she wanted a family with parents and siblings. she wanted friends and a normal school. she wanted to have all the things she couldn't and she hated it.

she whimpered, "mom..dad.."

she repeated this numerous time as if they would magically appear if she did.

"i-i just wanted to g-row old.. have ki-ds.. do everything i-i dreame-d of, but i c-can't. all because of t-hese s-stupid powers..."

and in that very moment, celena swore to herself that she would never use her gifts ever again. even in a life or death situation, she would stay helpless.

when celena opened her eyes, she was on her knees and shivering. she was drenched in cold sweat. weakly, she stood up with trembling legs and balled her hand into a fist.

if she didn't acknowledge it, it didn't happen.

"hey celena, are you ok? i heard a loud noise," tate murmured from outside the room

celene slowly faced the door, "im..fine and..harvey doesn't want to go, so i'll just ask him where the place is instead."

"oh ok," tate replied

she seemed unconvinced.

"but are you sure you're fine?" tate asked again

"im ok," celena's voice wavered

it was the biggest lie of her life
