it was 2 am and kamry couldn't sleep. after ending her call with juniper and hour ago, kamry planned to go to bed. she couldn't. her conversation with juniper took her mind off some things, but now they were haunting her.

she closed her eyes and kept motionless, but couldn't fall asleep. kamry knew everyone else was probably sleeping, so if she wanted company, she couldn't have it. an image flickered in her head and she groaned.

garrets pained face stared at her. his eyes were screaming the word "monster". he was disgusted of her. he feared her now.

a chill passed through kamry and she shivered, snuggling closer to her blanket. she assumed it was from her open window, but it wasn't open anymore. she closed it after ending her call with juniper.

before she could realize her mistake, the whole council house rumbled and her bedroom door flew open. a hunter smirked at her, teeth gleaming. there were dozens behind him.

this was an attack.

kamry got to her feet quicker than the hunter had expected. her hands were out and summoning dangerously sharp icicles. to the hunter's credit, he didn't show any sign of fear.

kamry wondered what kind of condition her friends were in. there hadn't been to lucky so be awake like her.

the hunter moved quickly and lunged at her. she side stepped it and sent the icicle down. after hearing a crunching noise, she moved on to the next. relief filled her when she heard her friends.

she froze the hunter's legs and kicked him fiercely. kamry felt sleep tugging at her and pushed it away. she almost laughed. just five minutes ago, she had trouble sleeping. of course her body would want to sleep when she didn't want to.

something behind kamry clicked and she twirled, only to find garrett climbing through her window.

"garrett?" she asked bewilderedly

"behind you!" he cried out

kamry ducked, spun, and froze the hunter behind. she gave the ice sculpture and hard punch. it shattered into smithereens. she ran to close the door and turned to garrett.

perhaps it was a bad time to a talk with him. she kept telling herself that her friends could handle the intruders. it was selfish of her, but she couldn't lose this chance. if she didn't tell him now, she could never get to.

"w-hy are you here?" she stuttered

heat filled his face as he found an excuse, "i wanted to get my hoodie back."

he reached for the red hoodie on her chair. her face fell slightly.

"i'll be leaving no-"

"wait!" she interrupted, "can we talk?"

"uh i think you're a little busy right now...and i have nothing to say to you," he stated

she took a step towards him. he took a step back. something in her chest ached. tears began to form, blurring her vision.

"i didn't do it garrett. i would never. you have to believe me," she pleaded softly

he shook his head. a tear trickled down his face. she moved closer to him, but he held a hand up.

"don't kamry." he warned

she didn't listen and took another step closer, "why would i kill her?!"

"that's my question!" he bellowed

kamry flinched and took an involuntary step backwards. tears were now falling down her face. one after another.

"i didn't do it! why don't you believe me? why can't you trust me!" she sobbed

"who did it then?" he growled, "both clary and my dad said you did."

"they're framing me! it was clary!" she screamed

he shook his head, not believing it. he wasn't crying anymore. his face was red from anger.

"that doesn't make sense," he grounded out

"she loved your father, garrett. that's why she did it. she was jealous,"

"please, just stop talking." he raged

garrett turned away from her and exited through the window. she buried her face in her hands and fell to her knees. her door opened again, but there was no hunter. clary stood at her door.

"kamry," she stammered, "pack your bags. we're leaving at first light. everliegh got hurt. catherine is doing everything she can to heal her."

kamry faced the red hair women and glared.

"it's all because of you," she snapped

"snap out of it kamry! everliegh almost died because you decided to go after a boy instead!" she spat

kamry scoffed and stood up. she was now eye level with clary. kamry moved closer to the older woman. there faces were just inches apart. she snarled roughly.

"didn't you kill for a boy?"
