-the girls ended up ending the funeral early. they lowered the two empty caskets and stared at the two tombstones. even if there were no bodies, it still felt like tate and georgia were under their feet.
at least they wouldn't be forgotten by the rest of the world. there would be evidence they once lived. catherine gazed at liam's tombstone, which was next to tate's. were they happy together?
she hoped so.
soon after, they all began to drive home. everliegh drove in place of georgia. clary sleepily sat in the passenger seat, and kamry sat in the seat farthest from her. catherine was sitting next to her.
the van felt empty. too empty- everliegh hit the break. every passenger lunged forward and who have been hurt if not for their seat belts. everliegh searched the back seat.
"what the heck everliegh?! i thought you said you were good at driving!" someome bellowed
"guys!" everliegh ignored the person, "we forgot about celena! where is she?"
"wherever she is, she'll be fine. she can take care of herself now," clary reassured
everliegh sighed and leaned back against the driver seat. she kept recalling the events of early. the weight of her guilt was too much for her to carry.
"right," she hesitated, "i just feel bad for snapping at her."
everliegh began to drive again. the remainder of the car ride felt painfully slow, only because it was. she had been driving at the speed of 30 miles per hour. kamy could have ran faster than that.
when they arrived, catherine found chris waiting for her. she pushed hopped out of the car and approached him. he smiled gently when he saw her. he almost reached for a hug but slowly let his arms fall to his side.
"i'm going to leave with chris!" catherine called out
they both got in his car and quickly sped down the road. everliegh watched as the car went out of sight with a displeased look. she knew that if georgia were here, she would stop catherine from going.
she turned around and saw kamry and clary were in the middle of another argument. everliegh sighed and massaged her head.
