as much as he tried to run from it, harvey liked celena. so the thought of her losing her powers repulsed him. he knew about her whole life. harvey knew that she disliked her supernatural abilities, but he would not let them vanish.
he knew her better than she knew herself. if she lost them, a piece of her would be missing. she wouldn't be celena without her powers. not to mention, her memory would be wiped. harvey didn't want that. he wanted her to remember him.
he was selfish. even as he stood in front of tate, all terrified, he could only think of celena. it's terrible. he's terrible, but at least celena will be safe. harvey knew what he was risking. if he did this, if he killed tate, celena would never talk to him again.
the thought terrified him, but then he thought about how she would be safe and made up his mind.
the cage door unlocked. he stepped in. tate shrieked. it sounded awful to their ears. he held up the dagger. he could feel celena's eyes on him. he could feel all of their eyes on him. he let the dark side of him take over. it was swift. he almost didn't notice it. but then flames erupted from the cage, and scream that were directed at him there were cries he looked over at celena and then there was darkness

juniper watched as he mercilessly drove his dagger down. she blinked and it was over. tate's eyes were large and teary. her mouth was half open as if she was about to scream. tears dripped down from her chin and then the death flame sparked.
the flame was a fury. bright colors of orange, yellow, and red jumped at her. it receded and left no trace of tate.
juniper cried out and flung herself at the cage. her vision was blurry from tears. she screamed nonsense and hit the cage. suddenly she felt so constricted, she couldn't breath.
no, it didn't happen.
"TATE!" she sobbed
catherine wailed. her brain was going overdrive. sticking her hand out between the bars, she tried to reach to tate, or where she used to sit. she cried and cried.
everliegh screamed colorful words and punched the bars. they rumbled and rumbled but wouldn't come down. her face was red and streams of tears flowed down her faced. her knuckles began to bleed.
georgia fell backwards. no.
"T-TATE! NO NO NO!" she howled
she felt her heart break. not again.
harvey slowly turned his head. it felt like time was slowly. the hundreds of thousands of tears ran down celena's flustered cheeks in slow motion. she screamed at him to stop but it was useless.
