"kamry! get down here right now!"
the girl groaned. she rolled off her bed and put a finger over her mouth to indicate for garrett to stay quiet. for the past three days, he had been secretly staying at the council house.
she had a suspicion clary knew. in fact there wasn't much that clary didn't know, but she never mentioned him and stayed cautious. she kept him hidden in her room where he slept on the floor.
she would sneak food up to him every meal, and they often sneak out early in the morning and return late at night. if they stayed out, nobody would notice garrett was hiding at the council house.
or at least that's what they thought.
kamry flung her door open and screamed in response, "yes clary?"
there was no response. kamry hissed and sucked in a large breath.
"yes?!" she yelled louder
still no reply.
she came to the conclusion that clary wouldn't respond until she went down. kamry groaned loudly. she made a gesture for garrett to stay put and raced down the stairs.
she came to an abrupt halt at the bottom and almost bumped into someone. she quickly apologized but the words fell out of her mouth mid way. she just stared at the man like a statue.
kamry swallowed, "you're garrett's dad."
the man from her visions glanced at her. he looked different but still recognizable. there were plenty of scars on his face, including the large tear across his cheek. she didn't doubt that he had many more.
slowly, he grinned at her, showing his teeth. kamry fought the urge to shudder, scream, or run away. his teeth were yellow and added on to his creepy aura. she had a feeling it wasn't meant to be kind.
"where is the boy," he spat
oh his breath was horrid. it smelled strongly of alcohol. it was down right foul.
"garrett isn't here," she lied
he sneered, "i have a tracker on that kid. it says he is here."
she shook her head, "i haven't seen him since he told me he was moving. you must be mistaken-"

kamry knew better than to lie. they just spilled out of her mouth she couldn't control it. look where it got her. she held her stinging, red cheek in her hands. salty tears brimmed her eyes.
"norman!" she heard clary gasp
"dad! stop!" garrett growled
he ran down the stairs and pulled kamry away from his father. he kept her behind her with a protective stance. he glared at his dad menacingly. his father took the challenge and glowered back.
"don't play games. we're leaving," norman snapped
he went to grab his son's arm, but garrett moved backwards. norman slapped his son just like he did with kamry, but with greater force. the boy staggered and would have fallen if kamry didn't hold on to him.
"norman! stop it now! what would julie say?" clary sputtered
norman froze, "don't you ever speak of her. don't ever say her name, you monster."
kamry watched the scene unfold with wide eyes. this was not the man she saw at all. that man had loved supernatural with a passion. what happened? did it have to do with julie?
"dad, how does she know mom's name?" garrett questioned
norman turned to his son and grimaced, "she killed her."
to her surprise, norman wasn't talking about clary.
no, he was not. norman was pointing to her.

juniper sighed in relief. leo had actually kept his promise and met up with her. she grinned as she entered the cafe and headed toward his spot. he returned the smile when he saw her.
she took the seat across from him. the waiter came and she ordered some tea. when the waiter left with her order in mind, juniper turned her full attention to leo.
"hey," she grinned
"hey? where have you been the past week? i called you thousands of times! i even tried your council house but nobody answered!" he exploded
she expected that.
"i'm sorry leo. it's really been a hectic week and-and tate died," her voice became a whisper near the end
leo's face softened. he took her hands and carressed them. he didn't say anything and let her compose herself. a silence fell between them, but it wasn't awkward. it was peaceful to say the least.
"this might be a bad time, but im relocating," he dropped the bomb
juniper's jaw dropped. did she hear him wrong?
"that's why i was a little distant before," he explained
"wait-" juniper tried to process everything, "you're leaving me? what about our relatio-"
juniper didn't dare go any farther. what even was their relationship? leo noticed what she was going to say and added on.
"i want you to come with me," he confessed
she froze.
the waiter came back with her tea and placed it on the table. juniper was glad that she wasn't drinking it while he said that.
"w-what about my friends?" she asked
he didn't reply, but she knew the answer. if she left with him, she would be leaving her friends behind.
juniper hesitantly lifted her tea cup, " where are you relocating to?"
"japan," he simply put
juniper let the warm tea dibble down her chin. japan? he wanted her to move with him to the other side of the world? she wasn't going to lie, she was actually thinking of agreeing before he said that.
she figured that she could just visit her friends often, but not when she was across the ocean.
juniper wiped her chin and looked up at him. leo wasn't joking.
"when...do you leave?"
"the day after tomorrow," he replied
juniper began to feel annoyed, "can you not act like this isn't a big deal? you're relocating a millions of miles away from me! and you're asking me to leave my friends!"
leo sighed, "what do want me to say?"
"i-" she paused
what did she want him to say? how did she want him to react? the more juniper thought about it, the more her answer leaned towards yes. why not? she asked herself.
tate is gone. kamry is distracted by her new boyfriend. everyone had there own thing to do. if leo left, she would just be alone. so why not? at least for the time being, she would leave with him.
juniper would distract herself from tate's death. she would get to enjoy her life again.
