[one day later]
garret walked out of his apartment and locked the
door. his jaw hurt from being hit by his dad, who had fallen asleep recently. although they had only moved to new york for a day, garrett felt like he knew the streets by heart.

he walked down an empty alley and hid. he cried. his father would have called him weak for crying but garret couldn't help it. he wanted to run away from home, but he couldn't. he was too afraid.

there were too many times where garrett would be standing outside the police office, ready to turn in his father, but change his mind. garrett had many scars fo prove his father abused him, but he still couldn't go through with it.

his father was his only family left. and even if he was treated badly, he knew his father still cared for him. after all, garrett is also norman's only family. they were bounded by blood, if not love.

so garrett cried uneasily. he was stuck on what to do. his father told him that he wasn't going to enroll garrett into school. it was illegal but garrett doubted norman cared.

"what is a fair young boy like yourself doing her? crying in the alley?" a soft voice sang

garret jumped up in surprise. when he met eyes with the unknown person, he gulped. she was gorgeous. her long, silky black hair cascaded down her shoulders. they were in slight waves that hypnotized him, and her eyes twinkled like stars.

she had large eyes, dimples, a tall nose, and light freckles. when the women smiled at him, garret began wondering if he was dreaming.

"uh- are you talking to me?" he blurted

"who else would i be talking to?" the lady asked

garrett nervously chuckled and wondered if he should run. why would anyone in their right mind talk to him? besides, why would a pretty girl like her be wandering in these alleys?

"are you sad? is that why you're crying?" she questioned when he didn't speak

garrett looked up at the mysterious women's eyes. she held the eye contact. her eyes seemed to draw him in. her dark eyes prodding him with many questions, and couldn't help but spill all the answers.

"yes, my dad is abusing me. he made me move away from all my friends," garrett found himself speaking without thinking clearly

she smiled warmly. it was obviously a trap. garrett was smart enough to know that, but for some reason he wanted to caught in her scheme.

she bent down to his eye level, "what is your name hun?"

"garrett," he replied in a heartbeat

"garrett, how would you like to start over? to be reborn?"
