Hey Super Readers!!! Finally, an update! Ugh, I've been waiting for this!!! I've finally got the time :3 Welp, go ahead and get reading!!
Emma's POV
The only ones left in the gym was me and Batman, and I was afraid. No, that's an understatement, I was scared out of my freaking mind. The Dark Knight hovered over me, staring at me like I was his new experiment. I'm starting to miss the stupid side of him now. I was also yearning for Will. His toned body might be able to give me some confidence.
Really Emma? Get your head out of the gutter!
"Well?" The Dark Knight crossed his arms. "I'm waiting."
"Yeah, about that... I'm not really sure about this. I mean, you just beat the crap out of Dylan, your own cousin. So it's obvious I won't survive."
He began laughing. "Listen kid, I'm not gonna fight you. I just want to see what you can do."
"Why?"
Batman didn't ponder the question. His face just relaxed and his shoulders slumped. He no longer had that intimidating aura around him.
"Well, it's rough to have abilities and not have anyone to show you how to control them. Trust me, I know a certain someone who can fly, wears a cape, and is afraid of a glowing green rock. He had no one, and that's not right."
"So what you're saying is that you'll help me because you don't want me to be like Superman?"
Smirking, he winked at me. "I didn't say Superman, you did."
"But you implied it towards him."
He shook his head. "No I didn't."
"Yes you did."
"Nope."
"Yes, yes you did." I huffed.
He crossed his arms. "I don't know what you're talking about."
I could feel my eyebrow twitch and my temple throb. I swear, if this kept up, he would be the death of me.
"So, are you going to show me your ability or not?"
I sighed and got into a fighting stance, then I showed him everything I could do. I started with Rosie's power, then Trevor's. Following, I showed Leah's and Leo's ability, then finally concluding with the water ability I had mastered in my bedroom. It drained my energy, but I guess I had to show this Superhero something. I mean, he is a mentor, so he's used to giving pointers.
"So how was that?" I gasped, trying to cling onto the air.
He stared at me with his hand rubbing his chin.
"Well, I don't know how to help you."
I dropped to my knees, breathing hard. "What? You're supposed to help me! Isn't that what you're supposed to do?"
His face was emotionless, which sort of frightened me.
"We, as in us mentors, usually take in kids like you guys when we share something in common. But, we, you and I, share nothing."
When he said that, I realized that had made a lot of sense. Like the story of Will and Rosie. Rosie had told me that Superman was about to send them to another hero until he found out that Will could fly.
"So," I breathed. "We don't have anything in common? Even though I can do any ability."
He nodded while snatching his cape from the ground. I guess he had forgotten to grab it after the battle with Dylan.
