Emma's POV
Everything that I once saw as paradise was now fading. Trevor was dead. Indigo was dead. Rosie was in a coma. Soon everyone I cared about might die in a matter of seconds. And here I was. It felt as if ever since I got here, I've ruined everything. It's funny, I was believing what Moxie had told me in the infirmary.
It was weird. I use to be so confident. Yet, here I am now, standing on the edge of the balcony as the sun began to rise.
Yeah, I was scared out of my mind, who wouldn't be, but maybe it was about time I faced my fears because I've already seen some come to life.
"What's she doing?" Someone asked from behind.
"Facing her fears." I heard Will mutter behind me. Wow, he knew me so well.
I heard the elevator "ding" behind me and glanced back. Dylan and Scott tumbled out, but that wasn't all. When Dylan's eyes landed on me, his face contorted with surprise. But then he seemed, worried?
He jumped to his feet and ran my way.
"Will! Don't let her out!"
Well, that's my cue.Sure, I had no idea why Dylan didn't want me to leave. Heck, I could've done something wrong and I wouldn't know about it. But, I just had to get out.
Before any of them could charge me and pull me off the balcony, I jumped. Okay, I know, I'm crazy. But, I'm not exactly normal. I can do any ability for goodness sake.
I was diving straight for the streets as the wind whipped at my face and hair and my heart pounded against my chest.
"Emma!" Will called, but it was drowned out by the whiplashing of the wind.
When I got close enough, I spread my arms, ceasing myself from diving and starting to glide. But, unfortunately I came close to whacking some pot bellied, long nosed, pedestrian that was yelling at kids to get out of his way. And, unfortunately, he noticed me as well.
"What the hell?"
"Bad language!" I shouted back as a chuckle escaped my lips. "You can't use that language around kids! Am I right?"
The children, who the man had been yelling at, were surrounding him with snow balls in their hands. And when I had said "am I right," the kids released their ammunition, pelting the guy and making him scream for the hills.
Wait...there's no hills in New York.
I laughed so hard and began to glide over the traffic. Sometimes I would catch some people's eyes. I even heard some people say "am I going crazy," or "stupid kids." Seriously, they acted as if they saw this everyday.
My eyes spotted a small building. Smiling, I quickly flew to the edge of the roof and landed.
"Well, that wasn't so bad." I chuckled.
The sun was higher in the sky, and the winter shill nipped at my exposed skin.
Smiling, I began scanning the rooftops to see if there was another spot I could land on to get a better view of the sun rise. But then, my eyes landed on him.
