The next morning, John was woken by the sensation of bright sunrays falling on his face and dazzling his lightly shut eyes. He reluctantly opened them and groaned. The previous day had been tiring - waking up early, traveling, the walk he and Cecilia took in the evening. John felt rather worn out, but was still incredibly happy about sharing this trip with her amazing girlfriend. For some reason, he felt good, even relieved, to be away from Los Angeles.
John lied in bed, observing his girlfriend, still asleep. She looked so peaceful and beautiful that he couldn't help but to smile. An angel he thought to himself once again, probably for the dozenth time, and put his hand on her cheek, kissing her sleeping face. Cecilia stirred for a second, but returned to her serene state shortly. John smiled at her and got up from the bed, walking toward's the room's window. He took in the sunny morning and studied the backyard facing the window. It was covered in a small amount of snow, the yard nicely decorated with some trees and flower beds, a tiny frozen pond between them. John was positive it looked gorgeous in the summer time and actually wished for a second that he was in that same garden, lying in a hammock, enjoying a light breeze cooling him off from a hot day.
"Morning," he heard a soft voice behind him and was instantly shaken out of his thoughts.
"Good morning, sleepy head," John turned around and smiled.
"How long have you been up?"
"Not long, 15 to 20 minutes or so," he walked back to the bed and sat next to Cecilia, letting her cuddle closer.
"You're spoiling me, you know," she nuzzled into his neck.
"Spoiling you how?" John chuckled, lightly stroking his girlfriend's back.
"All these kisses, and cuddles and things."
"Well, I can stop if you want," John frowned as if he was offended by Cecilia's remark.
"Can you though?" she smirked, very well aware that John wasn't being serious.
"Probably not," he laughed and gave Cecilia a kiss, accompanied with some tickles, making her squeal.
Since neither Cecilia or John felt like getting up yet, they decided to postpone socializing just for a bit more, and ended up cuddling in bed for an extra hour or so. Cecilia told John silly stories about her childhood, named some dolls and stuffed animals she remembered being her favourite, and over all, they just enjoyed their lovely morning together.
Remembering that they promised to join Cecilia's dad for the lake house visit, they eventually got up and wondered downstairs, finding Matt cooking breakfast in the kitchen.
"Good morning, daddy," Cecilia walked up to her father and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
"Oh, love birds, up already? Good morning, honey," he smiled and hugged his daughter back.
"Early? I thought 10 AM was a pretty decent time to get up in your book," Cecilia laughed.
"It is, but you two had a long day, I thought you'd rest longer. Anyway, coffee and food are ready."
"Dad, when did you become a master chef? Since when are you so domestic?" Cecilia giggled, noticing the amount of food Matt had prepared.
"I have been learning, you know. I gotta feed myself over here somehow."
"I just thought you went to grandma's to eat," she mocked her dad and snickered.
"Thank you for believing in me, honey," Matt rolled his eyes, but smiled.
The breakfast was spent enjoying food and chatting with one another. John found out that the lake house they were about to visit, was Matt's family's summer house by some lake not far away. Cecilia recalled spending many summers there as a kid, but considering that life had gotten quite hectic for everbody at some point, the house hadn't been taken care of in a while. So Matt decided to make the house a little project of his and wanted to fix it up.
