"Alright!" Link huffed after returning from the now raided enemy camp, a spear better made than my last in hand "This time, don't be so careless."

I rolled my eyes and took the weapon, resting it on my shoulders "Relax, it's not like I'm gonna go looking for another boar."

"You're right," Link brushed past me "Next time, it could be a stag. Or even Ganon himself!"

I blew a raspberry "You're the one that wants to fight that thing, not me!"

"Whatever. Anyway, we're here."

We approached the temple with caution, in case the old man really did want to ambush us here. It seems as if Link really did take my words to heart. That, or he's looking for monsters to throw me into.

"Now, where's the fading grandpa...?" I muttered, before feeling a hand on my shoulder. I turned to him, and he pointed to the very top of the building, where a faint glow could be seen.

"He sure likes making us work, huh?" I sighed.

"We?" Link scoffed "I'm the one who— Oi, I'm talking here!"

I ignored him as I walked around the temple, eyes scrutinising the area for a way up to the roof. I smirked at the sight of a conveniently placed ladder leading to where we needed to go. Link approached from behind, and I turned to him gesturing to the ladder.

"Ladies first."

He glared, but made no attempt to argue as he brushed past me to climb the ladder. He probably had enough of my bullcrap by now. Not that I blamed him. In fact, you could say that was my intention. This way, he'll have no problem with letting me go when I find where my home is.

When we reached the roof, Link offered me a hand as usual. And I ignored him, as usual. He sighed and proceeded to climb the damaged shingles "Careful. This stuff is seriously old, it's probably falling apart."

Probably? It IS falling apart.

Out of spite, I quickly scrambled ahead of him "You worry too much, I'm fine—"

I slipped against a piece of broken building, my stomach crashing onto the surface as I slid down the roof. Almost subconsciously, Link's arm shot out and caught my waist to prevent me from sliding off the building.

"'You worry too much, I'm fine.'" He mimicked in an irritated girly voice, letting go of me as soon as I regained my balance. I only flipped him off, before continuing across the roof to see the old man. It wasn't hard to spot him, as he was still glowing with spiritual light. Link and I took a moment to catch our breath, me leaning on my spear since my knees were shaking from nearly falling off the roof. After a moment, the old man turned to us with gentle yet proud eyes.

"You've done well to make it here." He nodded approvingly, his voice laced with regilty "And now I believe you've earned an explanation to who I really am. I was King Rhoam Bosphoramus Hyrule... the final leader of the kingdom of Hyrule. I'm afraid that kingdom has ceased to exist."

Suddenly he swung his lantern around to emit a bright green light, forcing Link and I to shield our eyes as he seemed to shift form. And then, a ghostly king stood before us in all his glory.

We should've been surprised. But really, after everything we kinda expected the unexpected.

"I am sorry for deceiving you..." he apologised "I thought it best to assume a temporary form in order to not overwhelm Link."

"Me?" Link frowned "Why?"

"You're memories are still fragile, my boy."

I glanced over at the boy, who had placed a hand over his forehead in what seemed like distress. I didn't know what Rhoam was talking about; as far as I knew Link hadn't told me anything about memory loss. He had only mentioned waking up suddenly, and then that voice said he had been asleep for 100 years...
