Breath of Another World (BOTW Link x Reader)

Getting closer

Link had been awfully pouty since we continued to Serenne Stable, and he hadn't said a word to me since my little stunt. It was kinda cute, seeing him act like a child sometimes, and it even made me snort a couple of times when side glancing at him. But, unfortunately we couldn't stay like this forever; communication was key in order for us to save Hyrule together. I cleared my throat and spoke for the first time in what seemed like ages.

"Limp noodle? C'mon, you can't still be mad at me."

He grumbled.

"I was only making a joke. What, did you want me to call you 'princess' too?"

"Oh yeah, then I'd definitely feel like the fairest in the land!" Link replied sarcastically, even clasping his hands together and batting his eyelashes to add to the mix. I stifled a snort.

"Link, I know you're not actually mad." I finally said, letting go of my reigns and crossing my arms.

"And where's your proof?"

"The fact that flower's still in your hair seems to be enough proof to me~"

The boy blushed and snatched the silent princess from behind his ear, staring at it obviously flustered as he tried to come up with an excuse "Uhhhhhh... what flower?"

Or apparently play dumb.

I laughed "You can be such a dork sometimes."

"Yeah yeah," he muttered "Up yours..."

The sun was setting fast, and both of us were tired, so I didn't really mind grumpy Link. Luckily for us the stable wasn't that far, so he'd be able to sleep, and then be back to his regular, energetic, dreamy self.

Wait, what did I just call him?

Gahhhh, I'm losing the plot.

I glanced at the blonde, only to see him staring down at his Sheikah Slate. The flower was now threaded through Epona's reigns, which made her look even more gorgeous, but I was more interested in what her rider was looking at. Fondly, may I add.

"What's that?" I asked bluntly, leaning over to take a peak. However Link quickly pulled it out of my view.

"N-Nothing!"

My eyes narrowed as I repeated my question, more intensely though "What. Is. That?"

My tone made the boy flinch, "It's just a photo! T-The one I took at Purah's lab!" He slowly held out the Slate, which showcased the picture of me and Purah. I raised an eyebrow, but then Link continued "You were so reserved back then, even your smiles seemed closed off - this being a prime example... but now you're more open with your emotions. The tension you had eased up, as did your attitude. We're only halfway through our journey, and you've already improved a lot. Oh, sorry... I didn't mean for this to turn into a speech. I just wanted to reflect a bit, you know? I guess I also wanted to think about how we'll grow in the future."

"Well you can start by drinking milk." I joked monotonously.

"Y/N."

"Right, sorry. Deep monologuing."

Link rolled his eyes "Well anyway... I decided to take another photo, one of you."

"What?!" I blurted.

"It's not a bad one!" He defended, before scrolling through his photos "It's just... this Slate is the key to my memories of the past, but I don't want it to be just that. I want to remember the past, but I also don't want to forget the present. I want to remember this journey after we defeat Ganon, so I guess you could say I'm making my own memories. And they start with these."
