Breath of Another World (BOTW Link x Reader)

Everyone has fears

Three horses trudged through the snowy terrain, towards a shelter of sorts beside the archery ground for Rito Warriors. Their riders pulled on their reigns without a word and dismounted as soon as they halted, making their way towards the building. Though, it seemed someone was already standing there. The Hylian Champion, Link held a hand out to his accomplices to signal them to halt, his cerulean eyes meeting with the ones of the one that stood before them.

"Well, you three took your time."

"Revali." The blonde sighed out in exasperation; just hearing the Rito's snarky voice seemed to drain a fraction of his energy "What are you doing here?"

Revali smirked and crossed his wings over his chest "Training - not for me of course, I have no need for it with my level of skill. Although, since you're here I assume you already know who it is for."

"Where is she?" One of Link's knights, Utall asked, growing impatient. He didn't come to talk, he came to do his job. The Rito Champion snickered.

"She sent you on a goose chase, huh?"

"Well she didn't send a note telling us where she was," Azal groaned "The last place we expected her to be was here."

"That's probably why she came here, to give her some time before you lot dragged her back to her duties." Revali shrugged with a sigh and turned , beckoning them with a wing "Though I suppose that game has ended, and I guess I don't want the king on my tail feathers, so I guess I'll take you to her."

Link nodded and turned to Azal and Utall, mouthing 'wait here' to them before following his fellow Champion into the Flight Range. He didn't want her to feel threatened and therefore take a leap off the platform to escape, he'd already been looking all over for her. When he made it to the top of the ladder he noticed Revali standing over something, back turned to the hero. He looked over at Link for a moment before stepping aside, revealing a girl bundled up in a blanket and fast asleep. The legendary spear was propped up against the wall beside her, while a bow was at her feet - not in great condition as far as Link could tell.

The boy frowned in concern. Why was she asleep? And why did she look so distressed?

"What was she doing here?" He asked as he approached. Revali only shrugged.

"As far as I could tell, she was letting out her frustrations." He glanced at Link from the corner of his eye "Seems like you lot back at the castle have been giving her a hard time, again."

"What? She never seemed bothered by the things that are said about her..."

"Yes, it would seem that to someone as shallow minded as yourself. But consider that she may be too prideful to show how much the backlash of the kingdom, on top of the stress of being a champion can affect a person." The Rito let out a large sigh "She comes here a lot, you know... and every time she goes at those targets and foolishly breaks several bows in the process. All while venting to herself. It really does mess with my training time, you know. Eventually after finding her here a few times, I decided to listen to her troubles. Not because I particularly cared, I have better ways to spend my time. But hearing her smack talking about you does make her company a little more bearable."

"Oh really..." Link's eyes narrowed at Y/N's sleeping form "What a relief, I thought you had actually become empathetic for a moment."

"Hush, boy. At least I am generous enough to offer my comfort, and not judge her based on her previous actions, unlike some of us." The male Rito glanced outside where Azal and Utall were waiting "You Hylians seem to forget she's laid her life down just like the rest of us Champions, and treat her as if she's still running around stealing from those more fortunate than her. She's basically a slave to this prophecy we are all apart of."
