"Something's not right."

The sudden statement caught the princess and Hylian champion off guard, as did the highly suspicious glances they were getting from the one who made them.

"What do you mean?" Zelda questioned "I don't see anything wrong."

Y/N huffed and pointed between the girl and herself "Can you see this distance between us?"

"Umm, I'm afraid I don't."

"Exactly! There is no distance!" She threw her hands up "Why is this being allowed? Why isn't this being prevented? And where the hell are Azal and Utall, aren't they supposed to be with me at all times?!"

Link and Zelda shared a look, frowning at the fact that the girl had now normalised this kind of treatment. Link gestured to the spear-wielding champion with his head, telling her that this was what he meant in their previous conversation, and that this was overdue.

"Don't worry," he said from opposite her, which surprised Y/N "You'll see soon."

"I... don't—," she paused and pointed her index at him "You're supposed to be the silent hero, not the secretive one, so don't start now."

To both her and the princess's surprise, one corner of his lip twitched upwards for only a moment, but he was quick to straighten it, hiding the fact he'd done so with a small cough "Trust me." Was all he said.

Y/N crossed her arms and leaned back, huffing like a child as she pouted and the blonde swordsman, "Meanie."

"Well that's just rude," he responded, clearly not offended.

The Princess watched their exchange with a raised eyebrow; she had noticed that the atmosphere between the two champions was beginning to shift over time, and this was just proof of that. Link wasn't one to tease... he wasn't really one to do anything other than carry out his duties as captain of the royal guard, and as her appointed knight with a straight face. Though his interactions with Y/N didn't do much to him expression wise, she could tell that the tension he usually carried slowly melted away when the woman was near.

And what he was doing for her now was only proof, that the hero obviously didn't think of her as just another champion, nor simply an ally.

The sound of a horse whinnying brought her out of her thoughts, and caused her and the sacred weapon holders to turn towards it. Two magnificent armoured equines trotted down the dirt path towards them. Y/N recognised their riders almost instantly and turned to Link with a suspicious stare.

"Did you take me away with intent to get me in trouble?" She questioned "Because that's low - and that's a lot for a thief to say."

Link rolled his eyes and made his way to her side "You have so little faith in me, Miss. Thief."

Her eyes narrowed further "Uh huh... right. Is this your way of getting back at me for taking your scone this morning?"

"You what?"

"Umm, nothing!"

As the two knights drew closer, she noticed Utall looking in Azal's direction, but the older male wasn't the one he was talking to. She frowned, tilting her head slightly to try and see behind the dark skinned man "Does Azal have someone riding with him?"

She received no answer, which made her huff. Of course Link would remain secretive, he was of course very good at it. As for the Princess, well, Y/N had no idea she was in on it too. Soon the horses came to a halt, which had the oblivious girl practically bouncing of her heels in suspense. Utall was the first one to dismount, and took it upon himself to hold onto the reigns of Azal's mostly black stallion as he followed.
