lvl 13: investigation

I sigh as I try to make the door budge open. I hear knocks at one of the walls and look around the room. I hear a tick again on the wall and walk towards it, trying not to wake anyone.

Knock, Knock.

I decide to knock back and then receive another knock as a response. Who is sleeping in this room? I hear my door open and turn to see Felix in his pajamas. I quickly run over to him silently when he presses a finger to his lips, telling me to be quiet.

"How did you get the door to open?" I whisper.

"A friend taught me," He winks at me. He then tells me to stay silent again. "Did you hear that crash too?" He asks me. I nod with uneasiness. "My door was locked too, I don't know why."

"That's probably something they do here," I murmur.

"Well, they should've told us that, right?" Felix states. I shrug. "We should go figure out what that was." I nod and grab a flashlight.

I close the door of my room quietly and follow Felix to the main hall. I look around the vacant lobby and look at Felix. He tilts his head towards the staircase. I sigh and hesitate until we both hear a scream. We turn to each other with wide eyes and hurry up the stairs.

"Were you the one knocking?" I ask as we run up the stairs.

"Yeah, I assumed that you were awake since you always are," Felix says and stops once we make it to the door of the second floor.

We hear another faint cry. I tilt my head in confusion and lookup. I stop Felix from opening the door and point to the third floor. We both head up the stairs quietly and slowly. I could feel my legs shaking as I walk and inch closer to the third floor. JYP said that they haven't cleared this level yet.

"What if they're zombies?" Felix looks at me nervously and I notice him glancing at my hidden bite under my sleeve. I touch my arm and hold it close to my stomach.

"I'll be fine," I smile softly. "We're tough." Felix nods and opens the door slowly.

I shine my light into the dark hallway and notice how clean and preserved the environment looks. I look at Felix with a confused face and continue walking beside him. We hear another cry and head towards the noise in curiosity. All of a sudden, Felix stops me in his tracks and I look at him with a questioning look. He presses his finger to his lips once more.

"It is grabbing her arm first."

We hear a male voice. We peek around the corner to see a man in a white lab coat staring through a wide window that looks into another room. The light from the room is very bright as if he was observing something inside the room. The man has glasses and a clipboard in his head and another man beside him.

"HELP ME!" We hear a scream and we both flinch. The men look unphased and continue writing notes.

"We have to help her," I say and try to move from my spot but Felix stops me.

"You're going to get us caught." Felix pushes me back.

"Felix." I try to justify.

"We just got here, we have to figure out more before taking action," Felix says. I sigh and give in to his reasoning. I nod.

"The zombie devours her after grabbing her."

We hear more analysis from the man in the lab coat. We hear faint cries and screams which makes my heart drop. I sigh as I stare at the bright luminescence of the window, trying to imagine what is occurring through it.

"Here's the thing, if it digests and eats most of her organs and limbs, how does she turn back into a zombie?" The man beside him asks.

"We are assuming that she dies and doesn't reanimate," The man in the lab coat responds.

"They're holding scientific experiments," I whisper. "This is horrible."

"We should go before we get caught," Felix tells me. I stand there frozen which makes Felix sympathize. He hugs me and holds me in his arms. "We'll stop this, I promise." I nod and let go of his embrace.

I only got ten minutes of sleep after I arrived back in my room. I lay next to Sana in deep thought and a persistent feeling of guilt in my stomach. Once I hear a wake-up bell ringing, I slowly get up and sigh as I look at my roommates. Ryujin is the first to awaken. I smile when I see her glum face.

"Do you think they serve breakfast here?" Ryujin asks as she scratches her head.

"They should," I say and then stand up and start to stretch.

"Where did you go last night?" Ryujin asks me. I stop stretching and look at her with a confused face. How does she know?

"Huh?" I question.

"I woke up in the middle of the night because I heard crying," Ryujin states. She heard them too. "You weren't in bed when I woke up,"

"Oh, are you sure? I was here the whole time," I lie.

"I don't know, maybe I was dreaming," Ryujin shrugs which allow me to catch my breath.

"Yeah, I'm gonna go use the bathroom," I state and head out the door.

I enter the hallway to see some people awake and in the lobby grabbing some bagels and bread. I smile at the community but could still feel a lie and needle picking at my skin. There's something with this place. I head towards the bathrooms nearby and turn on the faucet. I cheer in my head that the water was working and wash my face. I let out a sigh of relief as I stare at my refreshed self in the mirror.

When I finish freshening up, another girl who looks about my age enters the bathroom with a tired look. I look down at the ground and try to avoid eye contact until she gets my attention by asking me questions.

"You're with the new group, right?" She asks, her voice very calm and silk. I turn and nod my head. "Hi, I'm Tzuyu," She smiles at me. "I've been here since the beginning. How did you get here?"

"We were traveling by train but the train lost its fuel so we had to abandon it. JYP found us in the woods," I explain.

"Woah," Tzuyu says. "You're lucky you're here. It's really safe here. You should go eat breakfast." Tzuyu smiles and leads me out of the bathroom and into the commons.

new character!!!! im going to try to get the whole JYP nation in this idk lmk if yall think its a good idea. for now i was just thinking about all the girl groups like itzy and twice but idk.

u guys are probably confused about who Hana is going to end up with since she is basically really close to Changbin, Seungmin, Felix, and Hyunjin. idk either lol im an ot9.

we'll see what happens.
