Y/n's POV

We have been walking for hours. Daylight has arrived as the skies turn into a pinkish blue as the sun comes up. I stare up at the sky as I pace myself down the road. I hear crows cawing in the distance.

"Are you okay?" Hyunjin asks me.

I look away from the sky and at Hyunjin's eyes. I smile and nod, trying not to worry him.

"Yeah, I'm okay." I assure him and look ahead.

Hyunjin sneaks his hand into mine which makes me blush. I look at Hyunjin and notice his shy eyes as he holds my hand in his.

"Why are you holding my hand?" I bite my lip and Hyunjin looks away from embarrassment. "I like it." I giggle and Hyunjin looks back at me with red cheeks.

"I'm holding it because I'm scared." Hyunjin confesses. I frown and squeeze his hand.

"Scared of what?" I ask him as we walk side by side together.

"We're not all going to survive, I know that." Hyunjin lets out a breath.

"It scares you." I sigh and then notice Hyunjin avoiding eye contact with me as he stares at the concrete as we walk. He nods in fear. "It scares me still even after... even after Chan died. It's okay to be scared but don't let fear overtake you. Still have hope even if the future is uncertain because how will being scared help you."

"You're right." Hyunjin says. "I shouldn't let fear overtake me." Hyunjin looks down at me and nods. He kisses my forehead which makes me smile.

"You lovebirds better look at this." Felix calls over to us.

We walk towards Felix and Wonpil who are both hovering over a blood stain. I bend down and smell it.

"How long do you think it's been there?" Wonpil asks.

"Not too long." I say.

"Its scent is familiar." Felix states.

"That's not good." I sigh and get up.

this strange moment]

Yeji's POV

I run down the road with Young K behind me as I hear gunshots being fired. The gunshots make me flinch, making me trip on a log and tumble down hill into the woods. I could feel bruises and scratches on my skin the more I turn and tumble.

"Yeji!"

Young K calls after me and follows me down hill carefully. I land in a ditch near a river and breathe heavily as I stare up at the dark, night sky with the tall trees covering it. I get dizzier and more light-headed the more I try to catch more breath. Slowly my eyelids cover my sight and I black out.

"Yeji." I hear a gentle voice call me. "Yeji."

I slowly open my eyes as my eyes adjust to the atmosphere around me. I notice we are surrounded by trees and smell wood. A small breeze sweeps my hair away from my face. My head pulses hard and I touch my head, feeling blood.

"You fell pretty hard." Young K tells me. "Don't talk. I'll make sure you survive."

He smiles gently to comfort me as I try to process what happened. The pounding headache I'm experiencing doesn't help either. Young K gently picks me up bridal style and trudges through the muddy forest while I'm in his arms. I stare up at the sky as I doze off again. I'm feeling lightheaded and close my eyes once again.

I wake up to the sound of grunting and yelling. I hear a familiar groan from a monster and sit up in the bed I've been placed in.

Without thinking, I grab the knife on my bedside table and burst out the door. Young K is there is a zombie hovering over him, trying to get a bite. I stick the knife in the zombie's head and pull it out quickly, making the monster fall to the ground.

Young K's eyes meet mine as we are both out of breath. I get shy and look away but feel a piercing pain in my head again. I hold my head and close my eyes as the pain increases. Young K quickly guides me back to the bed and lays me down.

"Drink this."

Young K hands me a glass of water and I take a sip. I take a moment to look around the room and notice that we are in a trailer. I tilt my head and look back at Young K.

"Where are we?" I ask.

"I found this trailer by the side of the road. It was filled with zombies but I cleared it." Young K explains.

"How long have I been out?" I say and try to remember when I was last at the motel. "All I remember is running away from the herd."

"You've been out for a few days." Young K reveals and my eyes go wide.

"A few days?!" I exclaim. "Where is the rest of the group?" Young K becomes quiet and looks away from me.

"We're separated from them." Young K says. I want to get up from the bed and go find them but my headache and sore limbs stop me.

"We have to go find them." I say with urgency.

"You don't think I know that?" Young K questions. "You can't travel in this condition."

"They probably think we're dead by now." I cross my arms in frustration. Young K doesn't respond and leaves the room. I sigh and look out the window of the trailer and notice the sun is setting. "Hyunjin will find me, I know he will." I hope and then close my eyes to rest more.

Y/n's POV

"Someone fell down all the way to that ditch." I point as I track the steps from where the blood is.

"That could be a zombie." Wonpil argues. I shake my head and look back at the rest of them.

"I smell human blood trailing down the hill and to the ditch." I state. I am now qualified as the best sniffer which is the weirdest label to be awarded with.

"Should we follow it?" Felix asks. "It could be one of ours." I sigh and shrug.

"They could be really hurt," I close my eyes to make a decision.
