"I can't believe you convinced me to sleep outside" Jess says. I just laugh "let's live a little" I respond. We start layering our clothes because Josh told us earlier that it can get pretty cold at night. Josh yells through the bedroom door "James and I are running back to my parents place for a few things." As we hear the front door close, Jess doesn't hesitate to jump down my throat "Okay, what's the deal with you two. Are two finally together and so we can all stop pretending that there's nothing between you two?" I start giggling like a silly school girl and spill the beans to Jess. "We've kissed multiple times and I can't stop thinking about him. Shit, I think about him all the time and all I want to do is be around him. He lives with such passion and drive, I just want to be like him." "Damn, girl. You got it bad. You are head over heels for him aren't you" she squeals.
I provide Jess with more details about our first kiss, kisses afterwards, and the electricity we feel when we're around each other. We leave the bedroom and head to the kitchen to bag up the s'mores and hot dog supplies purchased by Kim and dropped off earlier for us. We haven't met her yet, but Josh talks about how awesome she is.
We hear the car pull up and I can't help but feel a rush of adrenaline run through my veins. As Josh pulls up in his sexy mustang and climbs out revealing jeans and a black hoodie that he wears remarkably, I can't help but stare. Jess nudges me and James shouts at us "Girls, are you ready yet?" We leave house bags in hands but Josh meets me at the steps and grabs the bags from me. We all pile in and drive off to an area Josh apparently knows well.
We enter a clear meadow surrounded by tall, thick pine trees. There is already a fire pit surrounded by stones. Josh pops open the trunk and we all start unloading. Two large sleeping bags with pillows fall out, along with some wood, camping chairs, and the bags Jess and I packed. Jess and I set up the pillows and sleeping bags on plastics tarps as Josh directed. Gosh, I hate camping... I hope he doesn't think I look hideous in the morning. Why did I say yes?
James sets the camping chairs around the fire while Josh starts building a fire. There was a small folding table in the trunk as well so we unload that and place the food on stop. The light in the sky quickly diminishes as we gather around the fire and begin laughing and devouring our messy s'mores. It's finally revealed to me during our conversation how James and Josh met in the dorms last year and how James and Jess in their second semester of last year finally decided to date and make it official right before school started. He claims living apart during the break while she was in Texas and he was Maine did it for him. Though the three of them didn't hang out much until recently they ran with the same crowds.
I also learned that James is studying business management and loves all Boston sports teams considering he grew up in Boston, but his family later relocated to Maine. Josh of course chimes in and reveals what we all already know that he hasn't declared a major yet. After a few hours of laughing and getting to know each other better James blurts "So what did you tell Landon about this weekend?" My cheeks flush with embarrassment and Jess hits James. "I told him that I was just busy this weekend so I couldn't go out with him." Josh glares in my direction and slowly gets up from his chair and heads for car. "Serious, babe" Jess mutters to James.
I quickly get up from my chair and follow Josh to the car. "Josh, don't be mad. I didn't say anything because I didn't know where this was headed." He turns and leans his back against the car. He lets a breath out "I get it...you didn't know about me...about us, yet. But I'm asking you now when we get back to not see him again." I grab the ends of his hoodie and pull myself up on my tippy toes in order to be at eye level with him "Josh, you can't tell me who to see. But I won't spend time with Landon anymore considering what's happening between you and me." "I mean it Jenn" he moves my hands away. "I don't want you go around Landon. He's trouble and when we get back and he sees that were together he'll fuck with what's mine." I couldn't believe how possessive Josh already sounded over me. I have no doubt Landon and Josh don't get along, but seriously Josh telling me what do? Ugh-and yet the stupid part of me liked how he wanted me to be his.
"Josh I won't go around him, but it also means you can't flirt with every girl around you either. If you want me to be yours, then that means you're also just mine" I wink. He wraps his arms around me and nuzzles at my neck. "I'm freezing... I need you to warm me up" he smirks. Luckily, Jess and James are a few yards away as not to hear the noise were about to make. Josh pulls the door open and pushes us through. I instantly straddle him and begin to roll my hips. His left hand pulls the back of my neck and he places his right hand on my lower back to push me down further. Our kisses become deep and passionate igniting the fire and electricity that exists between us. He moans and begs for more. I have never felt this way before. Though I've kissed guys before, I have never felt this fire that could be created between two people.
I try to pull away but he holds on tighter. "Why are trying to get away from me" he whispers. "I'm not... but I certainly don't think were ready for anything too crazy yet" I wink. He loosens his grip and lets me lay my head against his chest as he strokes my hair. "Sorry, I got carried away. I just can't help it" he quietly says "We can sleep in the back seat if you're not a fan of the outdoors." "I think you know me better than you lead on" I laugh. "But let's hang out with them for a bit before we pass out. Plus I have to pee."
We climb out of the car and head back to the burning fire. Jess is in James's lap and they seem to admire us as we walk back hand and hand. "Solve your problems?" James winks. "Yes, James we did" as I roll my eyes. "Jess I have to pee, so come with me so I don't get killed by Jason in the woods?" I laugh. Jess gets up from James's lap and walks with me to the nearby group of trees. Its pitch black so we whip out our cell phones and use the light to guide us. We part ways so we have some privacy and I can't stop thinking that a mosquito probably is biting my ass. I begin to laugh at myself when I step in something mushy... I let out a gut wrenching scream. Jess, comes rushing over and sees what I just stepped in.
I couldn't believe it. I just stepped in a cow shit... or what these people call a cow pie. My right converse shoe is ruined and I try to scrape it against chunks of grass. Jess starts laughing and I can't hold back anymore. Of course, I step in cow shit! Of course I embarrass myself more than I have already this weekend with Josh. First, I fall off the bike then I do this. Jess and I are literally crying with laughter when we hear James and Josh finally running over. "What the hell" James says "Are you guys okay?" Jess and I lean on each other for support from laughing with tears in our eyes. "Yes" I shout "I stepped cow shit."
Josh extends his hand "It happens to the best of us." He walks me back to car, opens the door and I sit on the edge of the seat. He hands me a bottle of water and paper towels to assist with clean off the shoe. I see that the bottoms of my jeans have shit on them too. "You should probably take those off too" he winks. "Is this how you get me to undress?" I reply. "I have extra sweatpants in the car just in case if you got cold. I know you layered your tops but certainly not your sexy legs." I look up at him with annoyance about my jeans being gross "Yes, please!" Josh gives me privacy and lets me remove my jeans in car and I slide on his sweatpants. Gosh, they smell like him too.
I open the car door and extend my hand to him to come in. He hands me the pillow to lay against the other end of the backseat and throws me a blanket. "Jess and James are pissed that we decided to sleep in the car so I gave them the other sleeping blanket." "I think we can manage" I respond. Josh climbs in and we manage to maneuver our bodies where we're comfortable and underneath the blanket. My legs are draped over him as he lays on his side and my hands are against his chest. He strokes my hair and I begin to fall asleep. "So does this mean I should call you my girlfriend?" he whispers. I hear him and I quietly whisper back "yes." I see him smiling through the darkness and he pulls me closer to him as we fall asleep.
