Unexpected Love

Chapter 17

After my usual Monday morning classes end, I head to meet Jess at her apartment. I walk with her to the leasing office in the apartment complex and talk to the manager about moving in. She was more helpful than I expected and tells me how I need to go to the housing office and to transfer my refund to the apartment complex.

Jess and I leave and walk to the housing department. We wait in line for about 30 minutes and a typical student worker assists me with the transfer. "Okay, you have to be out of the dorms within five days. Otherwise, your refund has been sent to the directed apartment, and you're good to go."

We walked out of the housing building and headed to the dorms to find the boys. "I can't believe I'll be moving in with you. Now how do I move all my shit into your place?" I say. "Duh, girlfriend. Josh will help you move in" she replies. We enter the dorms and walk through the large common areas full of couches, Foosball tables, pool tables, and TVs. Josh and James are playing at one of the tables which surprises me since Lance, Landon, and a few other guys that look familiar to me are standing around. Didn't he tell me to stay away from Landon? And yet he's here?

Josh spots me and smiles. Ignoring my cautionary side I run to him and jump into his arms with excitement. I wrap my legs around him "Babe, great news! I'm moving in with Jess. So you know that means you have to help me move my shit." Most of the guys are surprised by my behavior with him especially Landon. "They're not together. They can't be" I hear him mutter. "Great news babe" as he lowers me to the floor. "I guess I'll be moving you in versus that date tonight." "It doesn't have to be tonight, I have a few---"It has to be tonight" Jess screeches. "I think someone is a little excited for their new roommate" James says.

Josh and James finish the game while Jess and I play at a different table. We chat with a few of the guys currently there, trying so hard to beat them at their own stupid game. Landon approaches me while Josh is distracted "So are you guys seriously an item now." "Yes, Landon. We're an item now. I'm sorry I didn't say something earlier" I reply. He places a hand on my hip which makes me feel incredibly uneasy since Josh is only a few feet away "Jenn, you shouldn't be with him. He's no good for you. He'll play you like the rest...just like I told you." I look up with almost tears in my eyes and Josh's face meets mine.

Josh immediately turns red and walks over. Surprisingly and calmly pulling me away from Landon Josh growls "We gotta go babe. Move your stuff and all." James notices the tension building between Josh and Landon "Yeah, let's go guys. You have no idea how much shit this girl has or not." Josh and I head out the door towards the car with Jess and James trailing behind. His grip tightens within my hand and as soon as we approach his car Josh slams his fist on the hood of his car. I step back a little frightened about what just happened. "What did he say to you...Why did you let him touch you...Why didn't you listen to me?" I take another step back away from him and thinking how is this my fault? I shout back "You were the one hanging out with him. Did you not remember how I wrapped my legs around you...how everyone saw in that moment that we were together, including him?"

He stopped and took a deep breath "Yes...yes he should know now that were together. But he was there with Lance not me or James" he says calmly. Jess and James catch up with us and can see the rage in Josh's eyes. "Umm...did we miss something" James says. "No" Josh shouts. "Josh was just pissed that Landon was touching me" I yell back. "Yeah, I wouldn't blame you bro. Landon is a snake even though he's a good time." I cock my head in James's direction with confusion. My freaking hell?! How many good/bad guys are out there? And you guys supposedly tight?

Josh walks around the car and pulls me into chest by my wrists. "I'm really sorry" he says. "It's okay, I get it. Can we go get my stuff now..." I say. We pile in the car and head my dorm.
