Unexpected Love

Chapter 40

We drive towards the burger joint as Jess pipes up and states that a few people are joining us at the burger place. "Who" James interrupts. "Oh, like Lacey and Matt and a few other people" she responds. "Sounds good to me" I say.

After our first encounter the other night, personal space was no longer in our vocabulary considering how Josh's hand is almost in my crotch. I try to move it back to my thigh but he's deemed to entice me all night. "So you guys did it, ugh" James asks. I glance at Josh who's trying not to laugh. I slug him in the arm "Did you tell him while Jess and I were getting ready?" "Yes" James says "But to be fair, I told him Jess and I did it the same night you guys did." I zoom around and look at Jess who is completely blushing. We both smile and almost congratulate each other mentally about snagging our guys. "Well now we all know that Jess and Jenn are deflowered." Josh states. Jess and I immediately hit him for making such a comment. While James pats him on the back.

We pull up to the restaurant just in time to save Jess and I from any other conversations about life changing moments. We walk in the doors and see Matt and Lacey at a large table with a few other people. She waves us over and the four of us sit down. Josh scoots my chair closer to his. If I was any closer I would be in his lap.

Jess and I flip through the menus together and determine what to eat. Some order drinks while others order sodas. I'm surprised how few people card people these days. Josh suggests that we split the huge one pound burger as seen in their challenges. I nod in agreement and I am shocked 20 minutes later how it is laid before us. This burger is massive. Thick medium rare meat, oozing with cheddar cheese, layered with pickles, lettuce, and tomatoes Josh raises his eyebrows to me challenging me to accept. "Dig in, I guess" I say.

Josh politely cuts the burger in fourths so I can eat it easier. We start laughing to ourselves about how big it is, but we soon go back to joining in with the rest of the group and their conversation. Several comments were made how hot it's been and how we should go to the falls. "The falls?" I ask. "Yeah, it's actually a man-made lake and farmers utilize it to dump excess water from their dams. So over these rocks it creates waterfalls" Josh claims. "Sounds fun, we should go" I say. We ask for the checks and agree to meet up at the falls on Friday around 1pm so luckily, this time, I won't have to miss class.

We make our way back our apartment reminiscing over the night we just had. Jess and James make their way up to our apartment front door, while Josh keeps us back lingering at the side of his car. "You should sleep over tonight" he asks. "How about we see if we can stay one night away from each other...plus I have class in the morning" I whine. "So do I....We can set an alarm" he responds. I kiss him softly goodnight and quickly leave his side before he keeps me.

He pouts as I walk away and he gets in his car. I immediately pull my phone out of my back pocket and text give me ten minutes. I turn and see Josh light up as he reads my text. He holds up his hands and mouths 10 minutes.

I quickly run back inside and grab my books and bag for tomorrow. As well as my tooth brush, makeup, shampoo, and an outfit for tomorrow stuffing it into a small duffle bag. I run back out the front door and say goodnight to Jess and James. Josh has the trunk open so I throw my bag in the back shut it behind. I open the front door and Josh pulls me in by my shirt "Easy cowboy...I don't want you to get any wrong impressions about me." He plants a kiss on my head and we head over to his place.
