She leaves his office defeated
No raise, no poise for only his
Answer "Please turn down the
noise." She comes back home
Her husband returns from work
Asking for dinner, she asks of they
Could order because she is tired and
Has no energy to stand at the stove till
The bell rings and rings in her ears, he
Looks at her seeing her tears. Haven't I
Done enough for you he sighs, she sits down
Rubbing her belly that won't carry more than
A jelly, they have spent years trying for a child
One night out in a bar her friend tells her it is
Not in everyone's cards, she loses a smile earning
An embrace of warmth she has not felt in a while.
Isn't this inconvenient? A woman who is not able to
Carry a bundle of joy spends her time not answering
Questions, is she alright? She isn't because she can't sit
In the rocking chair calming her son or daughter as they
Cry in the middle of the night.
