All The Bright Places

"You are all the colours in one. At full capacity."

Jennifer Niven, All The Bright Places.

We are each other's
lighthouses, myriad
of stars in full capacity.

I reach into the hive of
infinities to pull out yet
another question mark.

You stare at me upset,
eyebrows pointing inwards,
did the light blind you?

Saying I found nothingness,
where I see possibility,
your eyes are pressed closed.

Patterns that you hate show,
colours you've avoided,
you call me out in silence.

I don't know what is wrong,
when there is so much,
and yet so little going on.

Trees in the sea, snow in sand,
a darkness in the day,
a brightness in the dark.

The dust makes it clear,
the mystery is gorgeous,
if only you could see.

The ghosts are in the flesh,
the houses are whispering,
you're sewing your ears shut.

I will never understand this,
I doubt you do either,
but space is never ending.

I know you'll open your eyes,
look up in the cellar skies,
and be as grateful as me.
