"Someone stole your Life thread."
I didn't sleep last night. My mind kept circling in a whimsical manner around and about the life threads, me bringing back the tapestry to our parent's house and that strange woman who almost kidnapped me but didn't.
Chloe and Lila took their time examining the tapestry and concluded that nothing was gone from there; no thread detached, which leaves us to one obvious conclusion: Someone stole a strand of my hair manually.
I wonder who would it be? I roll my eyes at my own sarcasm. Of course, it's her. The strange woman with green eyes. I should have known.
But the main question is, what is she going to do with my life thread?
Should I tell Chloe and Lila about this weird almost-got-kidnapped situation? But if I do.....One, they'll kill me and two, they'll never let me out of the house, again.
I think it's better if I don't tell them this now.
A chime in my phone brings me back to reality. There are three messages. One by Lila and the other two by Reva. I open Lila's message first.
Lila: We're visiting the Furies tonight. I asked mother and she said that they might have an answer to where your life thread went.
I text her back a quick "okay". I've never actually been to the Furies. Never liked them, really. Even though they're biologically my cousins, and somehow I should be biologically functioned to like them, I just don't.
I shudder at the memory of them meeting me for the first and the last time...those dungeons of the damned.. the criminals...their screams. I cringe and shake off the thought before I remember anymore.
Another ping in my phone causes me to stop thinking about the dreadful memories. There's another message from Reva.
Reva: Hi Martha. Please don't be mad. I won't be able to make it to the college.
Reva: I don't feel well and either way, you're English major and I'll be in the economics department. We anyway have to have separate ways.
Reva: So sorry, babe. Don't be mad. Make new friends.
"But that's what I'm not good at...!" I shout at my phone, annoyance filling in me. I push past the crowd and stood near the door of the same hall where I gave my files on the first day. Speaking of the first day, where exactly is my Mr Cutie?
I huff audibly and tried understanding what song I was listening to this morning that is constantly playing in my mind right now? Was it...
"Uhm..Hi. Excuse me." A girl with bright blonde hair smiled down at me, her smile like that of a chipmunk with her front two teeth showing, and her eyes as sharp but tender as those of a doe. I smiled back at her as she resumed talking. "Is this the way to the seminar hall?"
I nodded and she asked again, "So are you here for the orientation too? Freshman year?"
"Yup," I said and gave her a small quick smile. She nodded. "What's your name?"
"Martha, and yours?"
"Oh yeah, I am Spencer."
"Nice to meet you, Spencer." I smiled and she nodded again.
"Everybody, form a line!... Yes!.....This way." Said a professor as everyone starts entering the seminar hall. The air conditioner breeze hits me like it had the very first day I came here and a funny feeling of deja vu gets me and I start looking around. Looking around for him. Where is he?
