CASSANDRA

"Did you do it?" Augury said, anxiously as I entered the room. A smile triumphantly painted all over my face, I walk up to my hot trainee and cup his face.

"Yes, sir. I took the tapestries away from her." I said, and he pressed his lips on mine. I could feel him smile as I kiss him back. Then, he suddenly moves away.

"Where is it? Admetus' tapestries? Give them to me."

The scene of the party flashed behind her eyes. Austin looked so astonished when I handed him the tapestries. Thankfully, I moved away fast enough to prevent getting caught. He shouldn't know who the girl behind the mask was. He wouldn't.

"I-I gave it to a friend." I stammered.

"Friend? What friend?"

"A mortal." I looked away. "He wouldn't know." I tried to convince him with a reassuring smile.

"If you say so...Its the least that I can do for the fellow." He sighed. "He gave me hospitality when I needed it the most. I didn't even deserve it. But....I just need to help him out." He rubbed his temples, distress etched in every muscle of his face.

"Don't worry, sweetheart. It will be fine." I said and moved closer to him, standing between his knees. When I rubbed his biceps, my eyes landed on the beads of his sweat near his scalp line. His face turned into a scowl, almost pale. "Are you okay?"

"Actually, I-" He looked away and suddenly got up.

I kept staring blankly at him. He fished something from his pocket and took out a film canister. "This is-for you." He said and handed me the canister.

I chuckled. "What is in it?" I shook the canister, then opened it. It did a 'cling-cling' sound when it finally came out. My mouth practically fell down to my knees. "I-"

"It'd be a pleasure to have you as my betrothed." He smiled widely at the same time when my smile washed away with a pale face. I don't know what to-

"Augury baby, I never thought you were thinking of this so seriously." I stammered. God, take me out of this situation! Mayday! Mayday!

"So, what do you think?" He was nervous, too.

What do I do?

"Augury, I am not really ready for this. You do mean a lot to me. But. I am just not-"

A ping from my phone cuts me off. It is Eros. All hail to the lord of Love and desire!

"Excuse me." I say, and take the call.

"What did you do?"

"What did I do?" I ask, perplexed.

"Meet me." He said and cut the call. What did I do now?

"I have to go." I told Augury and pecked him on the lips before running to the Eros' abode. I heard a faint voice that said 'But what about our engagement? At least, answer me!' as I pretended to be deaf.

My feet slip outwards on the wet autumn leaves as I round the corner, the cold evening air shocking my throat and lungs as I inhale deeper, faster. With each footfall a jarring pain shoots ankle to knee, ankle to knee as if I was being chased. And, maybe I was? Something told me I was. I kept looking back to make sure that no one followed me. Especially not Augury.

I immediately stormed in the room and spotted Eros sitting on his chair. The stupid robotic receptionist kept asking for my name but I tried my best not to plunge the batteries out of her head. I took large steps towards the God of Love and hugged him tightly. "Thank God, you called me! Augury proposed to me. You cupids need to start a new system, only for hook ups. Sheesh, why does it all have to end in love?"

I heard a sound of something scratch on the outer window but there was nothing. Maybe I was too tensed?

"It wasn't love for you. It was for him, and if you are done gossiping about your proposals, can we talk about what a mess you have made?"

"You told the fates that Venus had entered Martha's cards! Do you know furious Venus was with you? You told us to put her in your system and then you told them! That was meant to be confidential. Now, I don't know what happened but something is missing. A tapestry, I guess? And, they think its us who stole it. Cass, I am telling you it wouldn't take long for them to figure out that we took their life thread, too."

"Oh yeah, well. It was something Augury was teaching me. It was called Precognition. So when I got a vision, I couldn't help myself and told them. But don't worry. They won't figure it out that easily."

"You can't be this laid back, can you? This can lead to a war, Cassandra! We did this on your command. You should hold some responsibility."

"Well, I am paying you back, now aren't I?" I barked back at him and he stood silent.

"Fine. But you need to be careful. Or you'll put us all in trouble." He said, sighing.

I picked up my coat. Some tension releasing in the air. Now, I have to deal with Augury. Maybe I'll stop at Starbucks and take the long route home? Maybe till then he'd go to sleep? I did tell him that I am not ready. Love is so exhausting. I sighed. "Good night, Eros." I smiled.

By the time I got home, night had fallen and enveloped the city in a blanket of darkness. I scurried down the path towards my house, my shoes slapping against the stone steps that led to our front door. God, this is as good as its gonna get!

"Hi baby." Augury was waiting for me which was a relief. But he looked sad. Maybe, because I said no to him. I can't believe he fell in love with me in just a few months! If Augury could, why couldn't Austin? "Hey." I say. "You hungry? I got you a frappe and a burger."

"Not really." He got up. "Did you think about my proposal?"

Holy Moly.

"Oh, honey. I think I told you. I am not ready for this." I said, anxiously looking up at him and he smiled, releasing some of my stress in the air with just a smirk. "Is that okay with you?"

"Oh yeah, of course. This was a..what did you say? Ah...A hook up, eh?" He chuckled and suddenly I was red, all I could see was red and how much my hands were shaking.

"Augury I didn't say-"

"Oh I think you said plenty. All this was nothing. Just a hook up? For pleasure, huh? I moved in with you for this."

"No, this is not what I meant."

"No, its okay. I get it. I'm just your trainee, to train you. Just to teach you prophecy. All the other things don't matter, right?"

Fuck.

I try to grab his hand but jerks off, and his eyes change colours from electric blue to dark blue. This is not good.

"I thought you were a true student but I guess I was wrong. I curse you that your prophecies may be true..."

"That's a lovely curse." I tell him. My mouth doesn't know when to shut up.

The lights blew off and on, and the ground shook underneath my feet. The howling wind made my hair tangle to my face in a funny way.

"....but nobody would believe them." He added and my pupils dilate. His eyes grew almost black.

"This curse will last till the end of time. No power on earth can change it." He said and a blue ray of light struck me.

I fell, spinning onto the ground and then saw nothing but black.
