Time seemed to fly by and the next thing we knew it had been a year since we had moved to England and my contract with the Hays family was up for renewal. Jessie and I were still deciding whether or not we could live another year away from our families.
After much secret planning by the Hays, both Jessie and I’s families showed up Christmas week. They had organized flights and accommodation, all without us even having an idea of it. I was beyond ecstatic to see my family again in person after so long. The Hays had brought over my mum, dad, brother, Gemma, Mary and Richard. We celebrated Christmas and New Years together before they headed home on the first day of the New Year.
Jessie and I took our family out to many of the places in England that we enjoyed going to, Windsor Castle, The tower of London, Adlington Hall and many other tourist attractions. I took my mum out for a coffee to the little café called Teatime that Jessie and I always went to.
“So what are Jessie and yours plans for next year?” my mum asked me as our drinks arrived.
I nodded thank you to the waitress and started to put a sugar into my tea.
“Well that’s the thing mum, I don’t know” I replied as my mum knitted her eyebrows together in confusion.
“Sorry I mean, the Hays have offered me another year on my contract, but I don’t know if I can do another year away from home and Jessie said the same thing” I said.
“Oh I understand sweetie, but you and Jessie need to do what you want to do and don’t worry about us. You two are in this together and its time for you two to live your life’s. Your young still and you need to live it up and make memories” my mum replied as she took a slip of her coffee.
“Thanks mum” I said. My mum was right. Jessie and I needed to live our life to the fullest.
After my conversation with my mum and another long talk with Jessie, we decided to renew my contract with the family for another year. We would spend the year planning our future travels around the world.
