I was pacing around my room, anxiously waiting for Jimin to appear out of thin air. There was no doubt that he was telling her something forbidden.

But what?

Someone knocked on the door and I quickly ran towards it, opening wide to find the very man standing outside with a tired smile.

"Did you wait for long?"

I shook my head and pulled him inside my room, making him sit on the bed.

"So?" I looked at him impatiently.

He sighed before holding my hands. I could tell he was feeling very guilty and distressed. Whatever he was going to tell me... wasn't something good.

"Your friend, Rena... She and Taehyung have history together."

I blinked in confusion. "Come again?"

"They are cursed souls... star crossed, if you will."

When he explained just what kind of an ill fate they shared, I couldn't believe it.

How could someone curse them to lead such horrible lives?

I was starting to feel pitiful and sorry for Taehyung and how he had to go through so much pain and anguish as an immortal person and being unable to be with Rena, but paying the price when he did.

"And... I'm sorry to say this, but she only has two and a half month to live now due to terminal illness."

I gasped in shock. "W-What?"

His hold tightened. "But she said that she wanted to leave earlier than that."

My mouth was hanging open as I tried to process what he was saying.

She's d-dying...?

Tears started welling up.

Rena... My best friend...

The girl who would scold me for keeping my head in the clouds...

The girl who always worried about my wellbeing...

The girl who-

I choked on my tears.

The girl who grew up with me, who always stayed by my side, taking care of me like my sister...

My other half...

Jimin enveloped me in a tight hug before gently rubbing my back in a soothing manner as I cried into his chest. My tears dampened his shirt and I clutched his shoulders. His warmth was pacifying my sobs, but also aggravating it at the same time.

"I don't want to lose her this soon," I trembled. "This wasn't supposed to happen."

He gently caressed my hair. "I know... but there's nothing we can do about it..."

I swallowed the lump that was forming in my throat and rubbed my eyes before looking up at him.

"I want to see her now."

He wiped my cheeks, staring into my eyes worriedly.

"In this state? Lyn... I know how it feels for you, but she's having a hard time accepting this, too. I don't think now's the right-"

"No. I want to see her right now."

We had a staring battle until he finally gave up, sighing.

"I'll take you there."

I raised my eyebrows. "You had a car?"

He bit back his smile. "No. But, I can teleport you there."

But you don't do that...

"This is an exception," he answered. "I don't want to repeat that bus accident."

I nodded slowly and he held my hands before standing up, with me following suit.

"Close your eyes, Lyn," he whispered while pulling me closer to himself.

Taking a deep breath, I did as told, waiting for the magic to happen.

The air shifted around me and I opened an eye to check my surroundings. I gasped before opening both of my eyes to find us standing in front of Rena's dorm.

Jimin brought my hand up to place a kiss on the back of it all the while his eyes were closed. "I'll wait here."

I bit my lips before nodding and turning to face my friend's door.

After I knocked twice, she said, "Come in" with a weak voice. Just hearing her like that was enough for my heart to break.

It crumbled when I opened the door and saw her with puffy eyes.

"Lyn?" She widened her eyes, surprised by my sudden visit. "What are you doing here? You should have told me before co-"

She stopped talking when I crashed into her, hugging her tightly. Unable to process what was happening, she put her hands up in the air.

"Lyn?"

"Jimin told me everything," I blurted out. "I can't believe it, Rena... How could this be?"

She sighed softly and wrapped her arms around me. "I'm sorry, Lyn..."

It's not your fault, why are you even apologizing?

"I can't be with you and grow old together," she whispered with a sad smile, holding in her emotions that were threatening to burst out. "Our children would have been best friends just like us... Can you imagine?"

My sobs became louder as I clutched her shirt. The pain was spreading through my whole body, the feeling of losing her sinking in my head.

Death was really cruel.

My friend was being taken away from me, and I couldn't just sit still, letting it take her away.

My breathing was normal again when I stepped outside her dorm room. To my surprise, Jimin was still standing there, leaning against the wall, deep in thought.

"You're still here?"

He looked up at me surprised. "You're done?"

I sighed. "I shouldn't tire her when she's already ill... Since we talked a lot already, I put her to sleep just now."

"I see," he whispered. "So, do you wanna go back now?"

I nodded before walking up to him and wrapping my arms around his shoulders, burying my face in his chest.

He flinched but quickly embraced me back.

I really needed his warmth and comfort, for him to soothe my heart.

We teleported back in my dorm room but we didn't let go of each other.

Instead, he started rubbing my back and caressing my head as if he understood what I really needed at that moment.

"Can you stay here with me tonight?"

Even if an earthquake happened and this building crumbled down to kill me, I didn't care... My aching soul needed him beside me to keep me from breaking down.

After a long pause, he accepted my wish.

"Okay."
