"So he didn't come to you since the day he saved your parents?"I hummed while Rena braided my hair, the act calming my mind even for a moment.
"I don't know what happened to him but I'm sure that he's being punished by now for breaking the rules," I stammered with a trembling voice before covering my face in distress. "This is all my fault... What if they're torturing him right now? What if he disappears because of me?"
She rubbed my back soothingly before sitting down on the bed beside me.
"You have to have some faith, Lyn... I believe he wouldn't do something that dangerous..."
I wanted to take her word for it but I couldn't stop worrying about him. He already did something very very dangerous and guilt was starting to eat me up for it... I didn't know what I would do if he was suffering the consequences of his actions.
"You don't know how much I wish I could visit him myself," I said, my throat contracting from all the heavy emotions I was feeling. "It's so frustrating that I can't go to his world even if I wanted to."
She sighed before pulling me into her arms, wrapping them around my weak body tightly.
I squeaked, widening my watery eyes. "Rena?"
She started rubbing my back while whispering, "You didn't do anything wrong, Lyn... Well maybe you did by not telling Jimin about it but anyways- There's nothing wrong with wanting to save your parents, silly. Don't beat yourself up for it because that won't change anything at all."
Her soft whispers of reassurance pacified my ever growing sobs and shudders as her hands gently ran along my shivery spine.
"Besides, I don't think he would be too pleased to know that you're reproaching yourself or even him, instead of being grateful that your parents are here alive and well here with you."
My tears came back.
He really would be like that...
He would want me to compliment and admire him for what he did, fishing for flattering words and kisses, and then tease me about it.
He wouldn't want to see me crying over him like this...
My tears streamed down my cheeks.
Please be okay, Jimin...
Rena continued to caress my head and I sniffled, trying to force my crying to stop somehow.
"Should I stay here with you today?"
I shook my head. "No, it's alright. I don't want to make you even more tired. You should get some proper rest, Rena."
She smiled softly, sighing. "Have some faith in me, too, girl. I'm stronger than you think, okay? I'm staying here with you whether you like it or not, and that's that."
Her challenging smug expression made me give up.
"Fine... You can wear my spare pajamas."

"Lyn, you have some sauce on the corner of your lips."
Rena's words snapped me out of my daze.
I dabbed some napkins to wipe it off and raised my eyebrows at her, asking if it's gone. She nodded and continued cutting her steak.
"So, Evelyn dear," Rena's mother chimed and I quickly smiled at her, waiting for her question.
"I heard you got accepted to your uncle's police department? Congratulations, sweetie, that's amazing! When are you starting work?"
"Of course," my father joined gleefully. "My daughter got accepted as soon as she applied, right?"
I giggled bashfully. "Dad, stop it, you're exaggerating." I turned to look at her. "I'm starting next week, actually. They asked me to start working as soon as possible."
She nodded. "I see. Well then, I've been curious about another thing... Do you have a boyfriend yet?"
I cleared my throat, suddenly feeling nervous. "Uh... what?"
"There's this boy from an arts university called Jimin," my mother gushed as if she was gossiping about celebrities. "A really warm hearted young man. Very handsome looking, too."
From the corners of my eyes, I could see Rena shifting uncomfortably in her seat at the mention of Jimin.
"I heard from the nurse who worked at the hospital we were in that he was the one who saved us during that accident not long ago."
I froze.
A sudden heavy weight was placed on my shoulders and the horrible sense of guilt came crashing down on me again.
"Lyn," Rena whispered when she saw me starting to tremble.
"I have to go to the bathroom," I stammered and stood up from the table before running off to get a breather.
Thump.
Thump.
Thump.
Jimin hadn't come to me for almost a month now.
What was happening? What were they doing to him?
What am I supposed to do?
All this because I kept chasing after him so persistently...
It's all my fault.
...my fault...
I let out a shaky breath, closing my eyes.
Jimin, please come back to me...
Please...
I miss you...
