Ted woke up at 4 a.m. because his couch is the most uncomfortable fucking thing in the world. God his back hurt. He just sat up and stretched. Ted sighed. Visions of how fucking sad Henry was. What happened in college. Seeing him sad just hurt.
Ted decided the least he could do was make Henry breakfast. He'll probably be hungover so he should make eggs. Everyone loves bacon. Then starch. Yeah that'd work.
He has a while before he has to start cooking. It's fucking 4 a.m. Henry probably won't be up for at least three hours. He can go get dres... Henry is in his bedroom. He can't go in there and wake Henry up, fuck.
It's too quiet. Ted pulled out his phone and put on his "a playlist even Hidgens would be proud of" playlist. He should probably change that name. It was funny at the time but it not really that funny anymore.
Ted got to work setting up all the things he needed for breakfast. Ted hummed along to the song that was playing. He put on the stupid little "kiss the chef" apron that Rosie got him.
"Somebody need me too much.
Somebody know me too well.
Somebody pull me up short,
And put me through hell,
And give me support,
For being alive.
Make me alive.
Make me alive."
Ted started cooking. Henry was still in the back of his mind. What happened to him?
"But alone,
Is alone,
Not alive."
Did the whole working boys this have to do with whatever this college thing is. Oh god that poor guy.
"Somebody crowd me with love.
Somebody force me to care.
Somebody let me come through,
I'll always be there,
As frightened as you,
To help us survive,
Being alive.
Being alive.
Being alive!"
Ted was lost in thought for a while. Songs went passed. Still just cooking.

Oh Ted loved this song.
"I see a nose that belongs on a coin
And there's that smile with a secret inside
And here are two eyes that are bright
With a mischievous light
You try, but can't quite hide."  Ted just pictured Henry, while he sung along. I mean he's an attractive guy! You can't blame Ted for that!
"Oh, there's that voice with the promise of sin
And on those lips are the promise of bliss
And I know that your embrace
Is a treacherous place
There's danger in your kiss"  The waltz-ish rhythm of the song caused Ted to sway about the kitchen. It's a good song get off his back!
"I am vain and I am heartless and yet
I can feel in you a shade of sadness
That's barely detectable
That I still want you at all
I may live to regret." Ted went back to thinking about how fucking sad Henry was. God damnit the image just wants to stay in his brain.
The song came to its end. There was a brief moment of silence before Ted heard clapping coming from the direction of his room. Play it cool, Ted.
"You have a lovely voice Ted." Henry said with real sincerity. Wow. That's really nice. Henry actually liked his singing voice. Keep calm.
"Why thank you." Ted curtsied to Henry and continued tending to the bacon. "How did you sleep? That mattress is awful. " it can't be worse than the couch though.
"I slept fine." Henry walked over and sat down. He looked for pretty good for someone who should have a hangover, slept in their clothes, and went to sleep crying. I mean he always looks good but that's beside the point.
"Good. The food'll be done in a second." Ted said while putting the finale touches on the meal (a.k.a. Butter in toast). He served the meal.
"You didn't have to make me food." Henry said as Ted served himself.
"My pleasure really. I have an excuse to cook." Ted sat down next to Henry. He began to eat. Once he started eating he saw that Henry did the same out of the corner of his eyes. Well isn't that polite.
"A gentleman's guide to love and murder? That's a rather obscure show, I'm surprised you know of it." Henry looked over to Ted. Well it's not like he started listening to musicals because of henry or anything. Totally of his own accord.
"The traveling company was in town a couple months back, I went with my niece." That wasn't completely incorrect. They were in town but Ted went alone.
"That's a perfect song for your vocal range. If you don't mind me saying you have much more singing potential than dancing potential." Henry chuckled a little. He's not going to bring it up. Ted has to bring it up. Fuck.
"So..." There is no easy way to do this.
"So..." Henry looked down at his food.
"Do you want to talk about what happened." Ted was basically just talking to the side of Henry's head.
"I should not have drank as much as I did and for that I apologize. I became an emotional mess and that was irresponsible of me." Henry had practically gone monotone. He still stared at his food. Ted didn't want to do this but Henry looked like he was hurting and... Ted just doesn't want Henry to hurt.
"You said something like they're gone. It was hard to make out what you said." God there has to be an easier way to bring this up. Ted couldn't see Henry's face.
"That's not for you to worry about." Still monotone.
"Well y'know I'm here to talk if you'd like." Ted put his hand on Henry shoulder despite his better judgement. Henry went completely stiff.  Ted you fuck you should have just let it be. Henry stood up and walked towards the door.
"Thank you for your hospitality." Henry said over his shoulder as he was already half way out the door. He closed the door behind him.
God Ted you really fucked it up this time. Where is he going. He's not in a good place right now. Who knows what he'd do if he was left alone. Oh Jesus Christ what would he do to himself.
Ted rushes out the door. He went after Henry.
"What do you want Ted?" Henry stopped walking he didn't turn around though.
"You don't have to talk about it, Henry. I just I don't think you should be alone right now." Ted knew he shouldn't get to close. Henry really looks like he needs a hug though. That's a very bad idea though.
"Do you want to come back inside. It's ok if you don't." Ted took a step closer. He just can't be alone.
"I don't want to go back in."
"Ok that's fine." Whatever Henry wants. They stood in silence for a moment. Henry was still facing away from Ted.
"I'm going to Emma's." Emma's? Ted knew they were close but he didn't know they were that close.
Henry started off. Ted followed at a comfortable distance.

Kind of a long chapter. Oops! It was also kind of messy but Ted's messy so whatever.
