3 days since paul's birthday. 3 fucking days. Henry could think of nothing other than Ted. Henry hadn't really left his apartment since. He also hadn't showered since. Henry really just forgot how to function. All Henry could do was think.
Henry was laying in his bed staring at the ceiling. Theodore would be disappointed in him. He has to at least shower, to feel human.
Henry felt much better after the shower. He still needed to take care of himself. Henry really hoped Ted was taking care of himself.
Henry has canceled his classes for the day so he just sat on his couch in his robe. He maybe feeling better but getting dressed was even more effort. Henry didn't know what to do. He wanted to call Theodore but that is really a bad idea. Henry settled on watching the news.
"-what happened in hatchetfield four months ago, but what we do know is that is that no one is allowed on the island." Oh god more news on hatchetfield. In the first month after the incident, Henry just kept hearing lies about what happened that day. Told to keep quiet or to be executed. Henry contemplated changing the channel. He didn't
"Some beach goers have claimed to see movement on the island." The male newscaster announced in his newscastery voice. Those must be people working for PEIP. Just making final sweeps.
"Even creepier, some courageous sailors have claimed to have heard music from the island." WHAT
"That's pretty spooky Carol. Of course we have no evidence to go with these claims."
"What do you think Jim?" This can't be. It's been so long how has PEIP not eliminated all of the infected yet?
"There's no telling Car-" Henry turned the TV off to let himself think.
Four months, how is four months not enough time to kill them all? They were all stuck on the island. There aren't that many places to hide. The infected have aggressive tendencies, even if they could avoid PEIP, they would attack.
Henry hadn't studied the infected closely enough. He didn't know of the extent of there capabilities. They could have advanced in some unforeseen way.
But four months should be enough time for PEIP to... then again the people of PEIP were only human. They could... that's unlikely of course. PEIP is a well organized government branch.
Henry couldn't sort out his thoughts by himself. Henry picked up his phone and called Emma.
"Henry you're fucking lucky I'm on break. I'm at work what do you want." Emma's voice answered the phone. Shit he forgot that Emma works.
"When does your shift end?" Henry hoped it be sooner than later. He needed to barf up his thoughts to someone.
"Two hours, why?" Emma sounded a little concerned.
"I need to talk to someone. One of the survivors." Henry wanted to talk specifically to Emma, knowing she had some experience in the field of biology.
"Im sorry Henry. I don't know call Ted." Right. Henry had neglected to tell Emma what had happened that night.
Theodore wouldn't be ideal in this situation, he lacks experience in the field and isn't the most logical thinker. Of course he is one of three people he is legally allowed to talk about this with.
Right just call up ted. Simple.
This matter is more important than emotions. Henry dialed up Theodore. Breath.
It rang, and kept ringing. It took all of Henry's willpower not to hang up. Finally Ted picked up the phone. Henry wasn't going to waste a moment with uncomfortable exchanges
"Ted, I am afraid something might be wrong." Henry must have been speaking very fast but he could hardly focus on that.
"What?" Ted's voice was almost as timid as it was three days ago.
"I think there are still infected in hatchetfield and I fear the implications." Henry's brain was going at a million miles per hour. Reminding himself to breath of course.
"Ok." Henry couldn't tell if Ted was fully processing what he was saying.
"Can I come over to talk about it? I need to talk to someone. The phone is very limiting." Emotions were not Henry's main priority anymore. Love doesn't matter if the world is overtaken by fucking alien pathogens.
"Yeah of course." Ted sounded bewildered.
"I'm on my way over now." Henry threw on his clothes and was out the door rushing towards Ted's apartment. Thank god he took that shower.

Henry knocked on Ted's door. Theodore opened the door.
Wow Henry had almost forgotten what Ted looked like without tears in his eyes. But there are more pressing matters at hand.
"Hi." Ted smiled. It was nice to see him smile.
"Hello Ted." Henry smiled back.
Ted's smile dropped.
"You were saying something about the infected." Yes the reason he was here. Henry walked into the slightly gloomy apartment.
"I was watching the news this morning and they mentioned the hatchetfield catastrophe." Ted sat down on his couch. Henry needed to stay standing, To think properly.
"They mentioned that people have seen movement on the island from the beach. That's of course to be expected if PEIP is doing there job." Henry was pacing now.
"They also mentioned that they could hear music coming from the island." Henry turned towards Ted. His face was flushed.
"Fuck." Ted looked off.
"Precisely! Now it's not impossible that PEIP has not eliminated the remaining infected. Now that brings up the question of how could anyone hear their singing from miles off on a boat." Ted looked like he was following what Henry was saying.
"So there's got to be a bunch of them." Ted concluded.
"To be loud enough to hear from such a distance." Henry nodded.
"But PEIP's been There for four months how are there still that many infected?" Ted's smarter than he looks.
"My thoughts exactly!" Henry knew that discussing this with others would be ideal.
"What does that mean?" Now Theodore's thinking with his head.
"I don't quite know yet. I fear that perhaps the infected have gotten to PEIP officials. If this is true, there is no telling what the hive mind could do with that power. I have failed to fully understand the infected on my first encounter. I do not wish to encounter them again." Henry waited for Ted's input. Theodore looked to be processing all of this information.
"We need to tell Paul and Emma. We can think of somewhere to go from there." Ted nodded to himself.
"Emma's shift ends in around an hour."
"Paul doesn't have work today." Ted stood up and started to grab things from throughout the apartment.
"Paul and Emma are going to be less logical about this." Henry knew how Emma got sometimes when being reminded of what happened.
"Yeah. They need to know though." Ted stopped in front of Henry.
Oh Theodore. Henry despite his focus on the matters of logical thinking couldn't help emotions.
Henry put his has on Ted's shoulder. Henry kissed Ted quickly. He could help himself. Life is so finite, Henry couldn't waste time not being honest.
"I'm in love with you, Theodore. I just need you to know that in case what I am fearing is a reality." Henry took his hand off Ted's shoulder.
Ted hugged Henry.
"I'm scared too. But we might be wrong." Ted smiled. Henry kissed Ted once more before they headed out to tell the others.
