Ted hasn't left his bed in 24 hours. Paul came by earlier and threw food at him. Why did Ted give him an apartment key?
He's glad he ate though. He hadn't realized how hungry he was.
Henry would be disgusted by Ted right now. Ted got out of bed to shower. He looked at himself in the mirror. Yikes.
Ted just sat under the water for most of the shower. He got out of the shower and put some clothes on. He felt better. He looked at himself in the mirror. He looked at least presentable.
He really missed Henry. It's boring without him. He missed the way Henry talked, and looked, and sang, and smiled.
Ted put on his playlist. The first notes of the song started playing. Ted nearly broke out into tears.
"How 'bout a dance
What do you say
I've got some moves
That I'd love to show ya" Ted wanted to sing but he couldn't. He didn't want to change the song either. He really loved Henry. God.
"How 'bout a dance
It's always fun
Come over here
Let me get to know ya
Can't beat a band
To lift your spirits high
You look so handsome," he wanted to kiss Henry again. Not even that just to see him again. To talk to him again. He's not going to cry though. Henry wouldn't want him to cry.
"How 'bout a dance
Let's make a start
Music like this
Can really throw ya
You'll lose the blues
And you may lose your heart," Ted wanted to call him. He shouldn't do that. That's a bad idea. But god did he miss Henry.
"Tonight is the night I've been waiting for
Even the moon looks just right
I'm sure the crowd will make room on the floor
When they see you
Look like you do." Ted's glad that he started to listen to show tunes. It just makes him happy.
"So...
How 'bou-" Ted's phone started ringing, cutting off the song that was playing.
It's Henry. Henry's calling him. Ted thought Henry would not call him. Ted didn't know what to expect. Ted almost didn't pick up, but he wanted to hear Henry's voice.
"Ted, I am afraid something might be wrong." Something wrong? What does that mean? Is Henry in trouble? Oh god.
"What?" Ted didn't know what to say. If Henry was in trouble what could Ted do to help him?
"I think there are still infected in hatchetfield and I fear the implications." Infected? What? No the infected are all killed off.
"Ok." Ted just went along with what Henry was saying. He's so much smarter than Ted. He must know something Ted doesn't.
"Can I come over to talk about it? I need to talk to someone. The phone is very limiting." Henry was not wrong. It's really hard to understand what he was saying. But Ted's apartment is a fucking mess.
"Yeah of course." Ted knew that this was going to be a very very serious conversation but just to see Henry.
"I'm on my way over now." Henry hung up. The song came back on.
"-out a dance
Let's make a start
Music like this
Can really throw ya
You'll lose the blues
And you may lose your heart
You'll lose the blues
And you may lose...
Your heart..." the song ended and Ted turned off the playlist.
How long did Ted have before Henry got here? Maybe 30 minutes if the trains are backed up. Ok he needed to clean this fucking place quickly.
Ted looked at himself in he mirror. This might be presentable for the supermarket but Ted can't look like this when Henry arrives. Ted scrambled for hair gel and deodorant.
Ted waited patiently at the door. His apartment was as clean as it was going to get and Ted looked as good as he could. Henry would get here any minute.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK
Ahhhh ok. Ted opened the door. Henry was standing awkwardly on the other side of the door frame.
He looked as good as ever. Except he also looked really worried which made Ted worried.
"Hi." Ted smiled to make him feel better
"Hello Ted." Henry smiled back. Ted's heart skipped a beat. He loved looking at Henry's smile. He could stare at it for forever.
Wait the infected.
"You were saying something about the infected." Ted was super happy to see Henry even after what happened, but he there's something going on. Henry came here to tell Ted something extremely important. Henry walked into the apartment.
"I was watching the news this morning and they mentioned the hatchetfield catastrophe." Henry stayed standing. Ted expected him to sit down next to him but he did not.
Ted stopped watching the news because of all the reports on "the hatchetfield incident". It's all utter bullshit.
"They mentioned that people have seen movement on the island from the beach. That's of course to be expected if PEIP is doing there job." Henry started pacing. Ted really fucking hated PEIP for making them stay quiet and lying to the families of the fucking DEAD PEOPLE.
"They also mentioned that they could hear music coming from the island." Henry kept talking. WAIT FUCKING MUSIC. Does that mean there are still infected people. WHAT THE FUCK IS PEIP FUCKING DOING.
"Fuck." Ted looked off. Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck.
"Precisely! Now it's not impossible that PEIP has not eliminated the remaining infected. Now that brings up the question of how could anyone hear their singing from miles off on a boat." Henry was a little difficult to follow but Ted understood what he was saying.
"So there's got to be a bunch of them." Ted felt a little stupid trying to keep up with Henry.
"To be loud enough to hear from such a distance." Henry nodded. It didn't feel like Henry was patronizing Ted, that's nice.
"But PEIP's been There for four months how are there still that many infected?" Ted couldn't understand how fucking incompetent PEIP would have to be. Like those dumb fucks.
"My thoughts exactly!" Henry stopped pacing. Ted knew it was a bad time to think like this but he really loved how smart Henry was.
"What does that mean?" Ted knew understood there were still infected alive but he just understand why or how.
"I don't quite know yet. I fear that perhaps the infected have gotten to PEIP officials. If this is true, there is no telling what the hive mind could do with that power. I have failed to fully understand the infected on my first encounter. I do not wish to encounter them again." Fuck. If the infected got a hold in PEIP they could get off the island. Holy shit. Ted's not ready for that.
"We need to tell Paul and Emma. We can think of somewhere to go from there." Ted could not fucking do that shit again. With Emma and paul maybe they could think of something they can do.
"Emma's shift ends in around an hour." Henry nodded.
"Paul doesn't have work today." Ted only knew that paul wanted Ted to spend the day with paul. Just to get him out of the house.
"Paul and Emma are going to be less logical about this." Henry was right Paul's going to freak out. Ted's pretty sure that paul was hit the hardest by the incident.
"Yeah. They need to know though." Ted's not going to be able to get through whatever is happening without support from Paul.
Henry put his has on Ted's shoulder. Henry kissed him so quickly he wasn't able to kiss back. God he loved Henry.
"I'm in love with you, Theodore." Ted almost started crying at that, "I just need you to know that in case what I am fearing is a reality."
Ted pulled Henry into a hug. The world can't end with someone like Henry living on earth.
"I'm scared too. But we might be wrong." Ted wanted to stay optimistic. He was so scared. The world can't end. It can't.
Ted kissed Henry. He just wanted to spend time with Henry in a world that's not ending. He's so fucking in love with Henry. Ted knew if he cried Henry would be worried so he sucked it up.
Ted and Henry left the apartment to tell paul and Emma.
