Henry could not go on. Henry seriously contemplated finding a different way out instead of letting his body be used to take over the world. But that's not how it works. There was nothing he could do that would even make any difference.
Ted latched on to Henry. Probably to try and comfort him. It wouldn't work. A dead man walking is holding him. They were all dead where they stood.
Nobody spoke everyone was still. Henry had no power in his body to hold Ted or to even move his arms. He couldn't look up at anyone. He felt like he was going to go limp.
"Breath Henry. Breath." Ted's voice was soft. Henry just realized he was sobbing. Ted was fully supporting Henry's body weight at this point. Henry appreciated Ted's support and he loved him for it but it did nothing.
They're all going to die, horribly and there is nothing they can do about it. Henry didn't have the strength to fight them off again. He couldn't.
Henry wanted to protect the people he loved but he really couldn't. He can't. He doesn't have that strength, he never did.
"We have to leave." Paul's voice was urgent. He was right. They're calling attention to themselves. Possible making themselves easier tracked.
Henry looked up at emma and paul. They were both ghost white. Emma has tears pouring down her cheek. Paul looked dead.
Henry attempted to stand himself up. Ted helped him up. Ted looked him in the eyes. Henry didn't want to die. He wished he had more time to spend with Theodore.
Henry caressed Ted's cheek. There's no cheesy when they're all going to die. He loved Theodore and he's going to die before he can spend real quality time with him. Henry wanted to stop himself from sobbing but he just couldn't.
They all rushed on to the next train back towards Emma and Paul's apartment. They didn't look at anyone, not even each other. They remained attached to each other. For fear of losing one another.
The train ride took forever. Henry just wanted to collapse. He was so absorbed in his thoughts, his motions felt like he wasn't in charge of his body. That feeling scared Henry.

They had gotten to the apartment. Emma fell to her knees immediately. Paul tended to her. Henry wanted to help her but he collapsed onto the couch. He curled up. He could feel himself shaking vigorously. He felt sick. He couldn't. He really couldn't.
Ted sat down next to him. Henry instinctively moved into Ted's arm. Ted rubbed Henry's arm protectively. Henry felt cold.
"I'm sorry Theodore." Henry was so terrified. Ted was going to die. Henry could do nothing about it. Henry should be able to save him somehow. But he can't. Maybe he could have 4 months ago, but not anymore.
"Don't be. It's not your fault." Ted's voice was shaky. It sounded like he was trying to keep it together. Henry wrapped his arms around Theodore's stomach. He still felt cold.
"I can't save you." Henry was crying into Ted's shirt. Henry felt pathetic. Utterly pathetic.
"It's ok Henry."
"No it's not. We're all going to die and I can't do anything." Henry's voice grew louder. He realized that was probably not great for Emma and paul to hear. He could feel their gaze on the back of his head.
"We're not going to die."
Henry knew Ted didn't believe that. Its the end of humanity. They aren't going to just happen to be the four that magically survive.
"Theo-" Henry was going to argue but Theodore cut him off with a kiss. It hurt. It hurt to kiss someone he knew would not live another month.
"I'm not saying we're going to get out of this without taking a few hits. But we can stop this Henry. I know we can." Ted's voice wasn't shaky anymore. Henry didn't deserve him.
"Ok." Henry tried to compose himself. He picked himself up. There was a stain on Ted's shirt from where Henry's face was. Henry took several deep breaths. It didn't do much.
"What do we do?" Paul asked from across the room. Paul and Theodore were stronger than Henry. They could play the hero.
"We can try to kill them off from where they land here in clivesdale. Does that make sense?" Theodore sounded so confident. Ted's plan wasn't half bad but the four of them would never be able to fight off all of them.
"How will the four of us kill all of them?" Emma sounded meek. Emma would definitely not be able to fight them.
"We can alert the authorities." Paul suggested.
"PEIP used to be the authorities. They aren't the most reliable sources of help." Henry didn't like shooting down ideas but he can't leave them open to an attack.
"The police would think we're insane." Emma stayed slumped down in the floor.
"They don't know what hap-" Henry began a thought. But then it struck him.
They were the only people who could say what actually happened. If they told the media everyone would know what happened. If everyone knew what happened they might have enough people to fight them off. No that couldn't work.
"What are you thinking?" Ted's voice went soft an sincere.
"If we came out with the story of what happened people would at least be aware the infected exist. We could get other people to fight. Does that make sense? It's a stupid idea and we probably don't have the time but-"
"The news stations have been desperate for the story of what happened. If we tell them they'd run it even if they didn't believe it." Emma stood herself up. Are they actually going to go with this?
"We can go down to the station tomorrow." Paul nodded, "I think this will work." Paul smiled, tears still in his eyes.
"Ok." Ted smiled back.
Henry was perplexed by this optimism. Henry had little faith but he saw how hopeful Theodore was. Henry didn't see himself living through the month.
"You guys can stay here the night if you want." That's exactly what Henry was hoping Emma would say. He didn't want to go to his empty apartment.
The four of them ate a dinner comprised of leftovers, in silence. Henry could barely swallow the cold Chinese food. He only ate because he didn't want Theodore to worry about him in the moment.
Emma pulled out the bed part of the pull out couch. Henry knew how uncomfortable that bed is. It's not like he would be able to sleep anyways. Emma and paul left Henry and Ted in the living room.
Theodore sat on the couch/bed. Henry joined him there.
"I love you Theodore." Henry was afraid he was going to start crying again.
"I love you too." Ted took Henry into his arms. Henry didn't feel cold anymore.
Maybe there was a little hope.
