Henry finally got to Emma and Paul's apartment.  Henry didn't take any public transit hoping he would tire Ted out. It did not. Henry finally woke up all the way, he felt better but he still wanted to see Emma.
Henry buzzed up to the apartment. He really hoped Emma was home. Nothing against paul. But Emma was much better company. If Ted is gonna make him talk about it, Henry want Emma to be there.
"Who is it." Emma's voice played through the shitty speaker.
"It's Henry."
"It's so early what do you fucking want." It's 10 o'clock. Oh Emma, you messy bitch.
"Just let me up."
"Fiiiiiine" Emma buzzed them through.

Emma and Paul were not exceptionally keen on tidiness. There was just plates sitting in the sink and take out boxes everywhere. It was still very bright in their apartment. It was pretty pleasant.
Paul opened the door and let Henry and Ted in.
"Hey guys." Paul sipped on his coffee.
"You didn't say you had Ted with you." Emma was leaning against a column just randomly in the middle of their kitchen.
"He insisted he accompany me." Henry kind of could tell that Ted was uncomfortable and a little worried. It's kind of rude of him to just brush off his concern. He's a good guy at heart.
"Wow when's the last time the four of us have all been in the same room?" Paul asked kind of uncomfortably.
"That would be the joint funeral for the other victims, babe." Emma patted her boyfriends arm. Henry could see Ted wince. "Yeah so why the fuck are you in my home again?" Emma half joked. Paul chuckled.
"I wanted to talk about something." Henry sat down. Ted leaned up against a wall. "I guess I wanted to talk about the whole disaster with all of us here." Henry knew that Ted would force him to talk about it sooner or later so might as well include everyone.
"Uh sure yeah." Emma pulled up a chair and sat across from Henry. There was a moment where everyone was searching for something to say.
"What happened to us is pretty fucked up. We're always gonna have those memories." Paul sat himself of the kitchen counter and let his legs dangle. Paul looks like he phased out.
"There is also the whole survivors guilt." Emma kind of played with her nail. Henry sighed. Maybe this wasn't going to be any easier.
"Paul, how did Bill die?" Ted finally spoke. Henry turned around. Henry wasn't expecting that.
Emma and Paul looked at each other.
"You were the only one there, Paul. I was his friend too." Ted looked at Paul. Henry felt kind of bad for Ted. He felt selfish. He's not the only on me suffering.
"When we got to the school Alice was infected." Paul's voice was shaky. The air in the room felt heavy. "When Bill found out he tried to shoot himself. I stopped him but the infected got the gun." Paul and Ted were staring each other down. "They shot him."
Emma and Henry didn't know Bill we'll enough to really take part in the moment. Henry felt like he was watching a movie
"Ok" Ted nodded and look down.
"It's kind of depressing that we are the four that survived." Emma kinda chuckled, breaking the silence. Ted chuckled as well.
Henry didn't not find it funny, he just didn't really have a laugh in him.
"Don't forget about that fucking squirrel." Ted joked a little. Paul chuckled. The conversation desperately needed this kind of joking.
"Peanuts!" Emma and paul said in sync. Everyone laughed a little. The whole room took a breath together.
"Henry, I have no fucking clue how you can be around music all the time and not freak the fuck out." Emma relaxed in her seat.
"I am in a perpetual state of freaking out, my dear." Henry said it as a joke. No one took it as a joke though.
"Henry..." Ted began. He sounded concerned.
"Nope no, not right now." Henry didn't turn to Ted. He didn't want to think about it. They're gone and he has come to terms with that. He was just drunk. He's fine.
"Ummmm," Emma glanced between the two men with a quizzical expression.
"I just drank a little to much last night and..." Paul and Emma's eyebrows shot up, Emma glanced at Ted, "NO no none of that." Jesus Christ these people are fucking ridiculous. "I just let my emotions get the better of me."
Emma looked skeptical. She looked to Ted.
"He... cried." Ted looked very hesitant, "he said they're gone."
Henry was glad that Emma didn't know about what happened when he was in college.
"Henry? What's wrong?" She had that stupid I'm-your-friend-please-let-me-help-you tone of voice.
"It's just survivor's guilt Emma. I may not have known Charlotte and Bill well but I was drunk, those feelings were just amplified." Henry didn't consider himself a great liar. He really hoped Ted wouldn't mention the "my fault" comment.
"Ok. Whatever you say Henry." Emma smiles sadly at Henry. She knew he was lying. Henry really fucking hated lying to Emma but there really isn't any point in having that conversation.
An alarm on Emma's phone went off.
"Oh shit. I have to go to work. I'm sorry guys." Emma stood up slightly frantic looking for her things. "It was great to see you guys." Emma grabbed her keys off the kitchen counter "this isn't over Hidgens," and she was out the door.
Paul looked uncomfortable.
"Well I best be off" Henry stood up. He had made everything about himself. Christ. He made them worry about him. He's a fucking grown adult.
Henry turned around and saw how worried Ted looked. Henry thought of this morning before he fucked up the situation. Henry wanted to hear Ted sing again. "Can you do a singing class next week? Same time."
Ted looked surprised.
"Yeah that'll work." He smiled a little.
"See you then. Always a pleasure Paul." Henry headed to the door.
"Oh uh bye!" Paul stumbled through his words. What Emma saw in Paul, Henry did not know.
Once outside Henry took a deep breath. You're a fucking mess Henry.
