Chapter 14: Awoke

When Gwen arrived to her school and walked in she saw a few familiar faces. "Hey Gwen. How was your weekend?" Rachel asked. "Hey Rachel. It was ok. Miles's parents kind of took me under their wing and let me stay on the weekends." Gwen replied. "How was your weekend?" Gwen asked. "I hoped you ask. I want you to meet my boyfriend." Rachel said. And then Gary came to them. "You are already dating? But you know each other only for a few days." Gwen asked surprisingly. "Are you jealous?" Gary asked. "Me?! Nooo." Gwen said. "Don't worry my teddy bear. She is into Miles." Rachel whispered quietly into Gary's ear. "No I'm not! Why do you even think about that?" Gwen said. "Alright, see you at Physics Gwen." Rachel said and walked away with Gary holding her hand. Then Gwen went to Physics. At Physics she sat on her regular seat, took out the notebook and a Physics book and was waiting for class to start. Strange that there were no Rachel at the class. Because she was walking with Gary straight to Physics. But Gwen did not worried about where these two are. Then the bell rang and the class started. After teacher took roll. She said. "Alright class. Today we would watch the documentary on a Coma." Then the video started to play and some kind of scientist from the video started to say. "Coma is a state of deep unconsciousness that lasts for a prolonged or indefinite period, caused especially by severe injury or illness. When someone gets into a coma. They would probably not wake up. And sometimes if they wake up they could get some very serious injuries." That made Gwen's heart bump very hard in her chest and some thought came thru her head. "What if Miles would never wake up and if will would have a serious injuries. What if he would not remember me when he would wake up." That made tears started to go down Gwen's face. So she stood up from her chair and went out of the classroom. Gwen with the tears running down her cheeks went to the restroom. When Gwen opened the door. There was not what Gwen was expected to see. Rachel and Gary were standing near the sinks and were kissing. So Gwen closed the door to the restroom very fast and leaned on the wall and started to cry.

At the same time in the hospital in the Miles's ward. The monitors started to do, what they probably should not do. The heart rate started to increase and a few doctors ran into the ward with some gear. They took defibrillator and started to charge it. But before they could apply it on the Miles's body. The heart rate returned to the stable condition. And then... Miles's eyes opened and he quickly got up from the bed. That made one of the doctors lose consciousness. Other doctors helped Miles lay down. "Where am I?" Miles asked. "You are at the hospital Miles. You was in a coma." One of the doctors said. "And for how long?" Miles asked. "For about a month." Doctor said. "What?! I need to see my friends." Miles said and started to get up from the bed. But doctor stopped Miles from doing it and said. "Miles. Let us diagnose you. And when we would make sure that you are ok. We would let you go." Miles sighed and layed down on his bed. And doctors left the room.

In an hour someone knocked on the door. "Come in." Miles said and continued reading his comics. Then Jeff and Rio came in a ward. "MOM! DAD!" Miles shouted. Jeff and Rio walked to Miles and hugged him. Miles hugged them back. "How are you Miles?" Rio asked. "I'm fine mom." Miles said. Then for a few minutes all of them were talking to each other. And tears went down their cheeks. When it was already time to leave for Rio and Jeff. Miles said. "Mom, can you stay for a second." "Yes, of course." Rio said and sat down near Miles. "Mom. I need to see Gwen. I really miss her." Miles said. "When doctors would check all of you, they would let you go. And you can spend how many hours you would like with Gwen." Rio said. "But I'm not asking for a few hours. I'm asking just for 30 minutes. Mom pleeease." Miles was begging his Mom. "Ok, ok. But only for 30 minutes. I would pick you up tomorrow. But now rest." Rio said and kissed Miles in a forehead. "Thanks Mom. You are the best." Miles said with a smile. Rio went out of the ward. And Miles went to sleep.

On the next day Gwen woke up at her dorm. Her bed was on the top. And Rachel's bed was on the bottom. It was 8 PM and Gwen yawned and stood up from her bed. When she was sleeping at her dorm. She was wearing a pajama that includes only a big and long T-shirt that covered mostly all of her's body only leaving part of the legs uncovered. Gwen started to come down the stairs from the upper bed and because she did not fully woked up. She missed a stair and fell on the floor. "Ow..." Gwen said and stood up. Then she reached for her phone and looked at the time and said. "Rachel wake up. Or we would be late for Physics." Then she turned over to her and nearly fell. Rachel was sleeping with Gary in her's bed. "What the...." Gwen said. Then she came to Rachel and gently tried to wake her up. "Wake up. Wake up Rachel!" Gwen said. "What the hell do you want Gwen?" Rachel asked. "If you would not wake up, we would be late for school." Gwen answered. "Ok, ok. You can go. I would catch you, maybe..." Rachel said and fell asleep. Gwen just rolled her eyes. Put on the clothes. Combed her hair. Brushed her teeth and went out of the dorm. While Gwen was walking to her class. Thoughts came thru her mind. "Just perfect. Now one of my friends just turned me aside because of a new boyfriend that she knows only for a few days and already had.... No no no. I don't wanna think about that. That is their life so they could do with it what they want and I would not get into it." Then when Gwen was near the door to Physics class. She took a deep breath and walked in trying to ignore people that were looking at her. She sat on her seat and the class started.
