Chapter 16: Parting

Next Morning, Miles woke up in his own bed, in his own apartment and in his own room. He was happy to woke up in his room that day. It looks like the coma did teach him a lesson. That you need to enjoy every second in your life while you still can and spend it with the people you love. So Miles was laying in his bed. Didn't know what to do. Then Jeff walked in Miles's room and said. "Why are you still laying in your bed? Stand up or you would be late." "Late for what?" Miles asked with confusion. "For school of course. You are not sick so it is fine to send you to school." Jeff said. "Oh. Ok then." Miles said and stood up from his bed and put on his school uniform. Then he opened his closet, and took out his Spider costume that was hidden underneath all of the clothes. He put it in his backpack and walked out of his room. At the kitchen, he met his mom. She kissed him in a cheek and said. "Good Morning Miles. Here is your breakfast." "Good Morning Mom. Thanks." Miles replied and started to eat his breakfast. When Miles finished with his breakfast, he put on his Nike shoes and was about to walk out of the apartment, but Rio stopped him and said. "Miles be safe out there." "I will." Miles said. "And also can you please pass this hairbrush to Gwen. She forgot it when she was in our apartment." Rio said. "Of course mom. Bye!" Miles said and took a hairbrush and put it in his backpack. And then walked out of the apartment, closing the door behind him. He walked down the stairs and went towards the Academy. When Miles turned around a corner, he saw a lot of his friends from the old school. Mostly to all of them Miles did say hi. One of friends did asked Miles. "So, where was you in a past month?" "Um, school trip." Miles said. He didn't want to say to them that he was fighting a big octopus robot and was nearly killed. Because this would probably sound stupid for them. So he started to continue walking towards the Academy. When he was near the Academy, he breathed in the fresh air and was about to get ready to answer every question that every student would ask him about where he was for a whole month. So when Miles opened the doors into the Academy, he saw a lot of students, standing in a big hall. Everyone looked at him and then looked back and continued their conversation with their friends. Miles thought to himself. "I guess no one cares." And then continued to walk thru the academy. Then after some time, he saw Gwen standing in front of Gary and Rachel. So he get an idea to slowly walk behind Gwen and scare her. So Miles started to walk behind Gwen very slowly and then when he was few meters away from her. He heard what Gwen said to the Gary and Rachel. "We are not friends with Miles, never were." That made Miles's eye twitch, and stay there like a statue. Then Rachel said. "Oh..." "What oh?" Gwen asked. And then Rachel pointed on Miles with her finger. Gwen turned around and saw Miles. Her eyes became wide and she said. "Miles.. I didn't mean it that way." But Miles didn't said anything back, he just passed by Gwen and went down the hall to his dorm. Gwen started to run after him.

"Miles, wait up!" Gwen screamed while running after Miles. She ran in front of Miles and stopped in front of him, didn't let him to walk by. "Miles let me explain." Gwen said. "I think I understood everything correctly and there is no need to explain." Miles said. He looked very sad. "They would not stop mocking me and you and that was the only way to get rid of them." Gwen said. "That was not the only way Gwen. You could have said other things to get rid of them but you did... what you did." Miles said and continued walking to his dorm leaving Gwen behind. Gwen was standing there looking at Miles and the tears went down her cheeks.

During all of the next classes. Miles was only paying attention to the teacher and didn't even looked at Gwen that was sitting near him all the time. And Gwen did looked at Miles all the time in every class. Sometimes she even get in trouble for not paying attention. On lunch Miles was sitting not near Gwen as he was always. He didn't even looked at her, he completely ignored her. Then after all of the classes ended. Everyone went to their dorms. Miles was laying on the bed in his dorm and had his hands on his head. At that time he doesn't want to do anything. Ganke was not at school for the whole week so there was no one to who Miles could talk to. Then there was a knock on the door. Miles looked towards the door and jumped from the bed on the floor. When he did opened the door, he saw Gwen standing in front of him. "Hi Miles. Can I come in?" Gwen said. "And what would your friends think about it?" Miles said. "Miles... You have every right to hate me and I understand that. What I did to you is one of the worst things I ever done to someone." Gwen said thru tears. "But maybe one day you would understand and forgive me. And maybe we will celebrate your birthday that we didn' t celebrate because of what happened to you." Gwen continued. Miles took the deep breath and said. "Maybe I would understand and forgive you some day but for now..." Gwen went for a hug but Miles stopped her and gently pulled her away and said. "You know, mostly only friends hug." And then Miles clossed the door in front of Gwen's face and went to bed. Tears started to appear on Gwen's face, she leaned on the door and rooled down to the floor and started to cry with her hands on her head. This was the worst day in her life.
