"Bear?" I slowly tugged my eyes open, "Yeah, Babe." Maddie shifted and I could feel her eyes on me. "I can't sleep." I tightened my grip on her body, "What's wrong?" "I keep thinking about us." She sat up and flicked on a lamp so I could finally see her, her hair a tangled mess and her shirt falling off one shoulder. "What do you keep thinking about?" "How you want to get married..." "What about it, Babe." "Well...when we broke up I feel like you stopped loving me..." Her voice trailed off and she wouldn't make eye contact. "Maddie, I never st-" "I'm just scared that we'll get married and one day you will wake up and decide you don't love me anymore." She met my gaze. "Maddie. I haven't loved anyone as much as I love you. I loved you today, I loved you yesterday, and I'm sure as hell going to love you tomorrow. Nothing can change that." A tear slipped and fell to the sheets. "I'm sorry," She whispered. "Don't, babe." I sat up and kissed her temple. "I'm so unstable." She mumbled. "What makes you say that?" I pushed some hair out of her face. "Cal hates me for no reason. Michael says him and I are good but I can tell he's pissed and wants to stab me. Luke, Annie, Mati, and Maddy don't talk to me anymore." "What does that have to do with you." "Ash, I'm already basically alone in this world. I have you and Calum. Everyone else already left and I just...I'm just afraid you're going to leave to." "Nothing could make me leave you." "That's what my dad said..." "W-What?" "He promised me nearly everyday of my life that he'd always be there for me and he would never leave me. Then he killed himself." "Maddie, you can't blame all of this on him. He lost your mom just like you did." "Are you defending him?" "God, no. I'm just saying that he was having issues and maybe it's better this way. Maybe he would've done something to you...or Calum, I mean he was already a pretty shitty dad." "Yeah, but he was the only one I had." "Mine was pretty shitty, too. So we can talk about our shitty dads together." "Ash..." "Put some clothes on." I stood up. "What?" I tugged my shirt over my head, "Just do it."

"Ash, where are we going?" "You'll see." "How far away is it?" "Can't say." "How long will the ride be?" "Two or so hours." The streets were empty. Just us, the asphalt, and the stars. She finally gave up on trying to get the details out of me and put her headphones in. She was slouched over her phone probably on Twitter or Tumblr. I slowly moved my hand off the glove compartment and onto her thigh, expecting rejection. She didn't reject it, though, she just glanced at me and went back to her phone. Then, after about an hour or so she took her head phones out and wrapped them up. "Are we almost there?" She intertwined our fingers. "I dunno." "Bear, do you not know where we're going?" I shook my head and laughed at her panicked expression. "I just thought we need to spend some quiet time in the middle of nowhere." I pulled over onto the side of the road. "Ash, we could get mugged." I opened my door and glanced around, "Looks pretty damn safe to me." She groaned and got out of the car, "What are we doing out here?" "Spending time together." "There isn't anything out here." "There are stars." I whispered and climbed onto the hood. "Ash, get down." "No." "What did you just say to me?" "I said no. Now get up here." "No." "Please?" She groaned, yet again, and climbed up onto the car. She stood there and looked at me, "If we're this far we might as well get on the roof." She climbed onto the the roof and waited for me. She looked up at me and pulled our bodies together. "What if we fell off?" She giggled. I shrugged and looked over my shoulder realizing how close to the edge I was, "Why don't we lay down?" She laughed and slowly sat down, "I love you, Ashton." Her head softly laid on my shoulder and her hand was on my bicep. "I love you, too, Maddie." I heard a car off in the distance and turned to see a set of headlights. Maddie turned and looked with me, "We get out in the middle of no where and there are still people." The car drove past and came to a quick stop. "What the..." The car turned off and the driver got out and started to walk towards us. "Ashton." Her grip on my arm tightened. I put my hand on hers, "I got you." The person stopped in front of the car. "What the fuck are you two doing?!" "Oh my god Calum you scared me!" "Maddie. Come here." She slowly stood up and jumped down onto the hood, then onto the ground. "First you don't tell me your staying at Ashton's. Now you aren't telling me when you leave the house." "Calum! Stop. I don't need to text you whenever I go anywhere. Im perfectly fine. Ashton is with me." "I don't care if you're with president, I want to know where you are." "Cal, you need to calm the fuck down." "Don't you dare talk to me like that!!!" She took a step back and her eyes watered. I stood and ran down jumping onto the ground next to her, "Maybe we should all just go home?" "Ashton, this doesn't concern you." Cal rolled his eyes. "You're being a real asshole, man." "Whatever. I'm going home. Unless you plan on apologizing don't come home tonight." He stumbled away. We watched his car start and swerve out onto the road. "Ashton..." "He's drunk, babe. He didn't mean any of that." She wiped her tears with the back of her hand, "Sorry. Lets just go home or something." "No, it's ok we can stay here. Lay the back seats down...maybe make out a little." She laughed slightly, "Sounds good to me."
