After being at Gia's family house for about five days, Papa had passed away a couple hours before our flight to Australia for the ARIAs. The hardest part was that Papa told Gia no matter what go to the ARIAs to prove him wrong a while ago, so that's what we're doing.

We all got ready for tonight in a hotel near the place the ARIAs was being held. I wore this sequence blazer with all black attire, Luke wore this flower shirt, Ashton was in all black, and Gia wore black striped tight pants, white top that was a deep cut down to her belly button exposing her cleavage and stomach, and black heels.

It definitely wasn't the time, but Gia definitely looks gorgeous. She wore these necklaces that came from her family especially her dad's rosary, then a cross and pendant. Her makeup and hair was done so it looked very natural.

"Let's get going" Kim said and we followed her out the door down to the lobby. Paparazzi stood along the side waiting for us to come outside for pictures.

We walked out waving as they snapped pictures, but Gia just walked behind us not paying attention to them. "Gia! What are you doing here if your dad just died last night?! Is music more important to you?" One of them yelled at her.

I stopped walking looked at Gia, her jaw was clenched tight. "Hun, come on..." I walked beside her and she walked towards the guy and smacked the camera out of his hand. "Giovanna let's go."

"Shut the fuck up! You know nothing about me!" She yelled in his face. She picked up the camera and threw it on the floor causing it to break.

This just caused more paparazzi to close in and snap more pictures. Security came over and got us in the car, Gia sat there in silence with tears rolling down her cheeks.

"Gia..." Ashton said with his hand on her shoulder, but she shrugged his hand off. "Hey, it's okay... don't listen to them."

Gia said nothing back and I grabbed her hand intertwining our fingers. She squeezed my hand tight as I rubbed the back of her hand with my thumb.

It's kind of concerning that she hasn't cried yet, and I think it's because she doesn't know how to react. It's been a lot of tears falling in silence.

After just sitting in the car in silence, we pulled up and got out of the car one by one. The makeup artist came up to us and did touch ups on our faces. Paparazzi and photographers snapped pictures of us as we took the first pose, then headed to the red carpet for photos.

After the carpet, we did a couple of small interviews talking about the nominations. Best act, song of the year, and best live act. We headed backstage to change for the performance since we were opening the event tonight. Gia just sat there staring at the ground with her outfit next to her.

I sighed and sat next to her "Come here" I put my arm around her rubbing her arm. I kissed the side of her head "Look at me, I love you okay. I don't want you to feel like you're alone because you have us here with you."

She nodded and changed her clothes. We got our gear on and waited to go on the stage as it was being set up. After doing that we headed backstage again and changed back into our clothes, then to our seating in the front row and just sat there talking about anything to get Gia's mind off of things.

A waiter came by offering drinks and Gia took two "Thanks." We sat there talking to people around us, clapping for people, and eating some small finger foods.

Our first nomination came up and it was best Australian live act. And we won, so we gave each other a hug and walked on stage shaking everyone's hands. "I just want to thank everyone who's been by our side and even came to our shows. We put a lot of work into our shows to make sure it's better than the last. And thank you to our team and fans for cheering us on" Ashton said. We walked off stage to the back, giving them the fake trophy and heading to our seats.

A couple of categories went by and finally ours came up as Apple's song of the year. Then we won, we sat there in shock then headed on stage, this time I spoke. "Uhmm, Thank you all for everything. We pour our hearts into music and Youngblood itself means a lot to us, it's been a long time to get to where we are and it's crazy. To all the other nominees your songs are just as amazing or ever better, thank you." We walked off again and headed to our seats.

I looked over at Gia and she gave me a soft smile, but it just looked like she wanted to cry. I grabbed my water bottle and gave it to her "Drink some water..."

"I'm fine..." Gia looked at the ground with her cheek against her hand. I rubbed her back "I don't want to be here..." she mumbled.

I nodded "None of us do, just make the best of it Babe."

Gia adjusted herself so she was leaning against me. I rested my head against her with my arm around her, "Hun" Ashton tapped her arm giving her a sushi roll "It's good." Gia took it and took a bit giving the rest to me.

It took a while before our category for best Australian act came up, probably about five or six categories. "This category is best Australian group" the presenters said and it cut to a video as the room went dark.

When the room went dark a video started to play on a big screen behind the presenters. "Eight years ago... Giovanna told me if I move to London I swear we're going to be the best band of our time" It was Papa's voice with a bunch of videos of us throughout the years. "And she's only played a couple shows with them and she told me that's what she wants to do. Giovanna would save up and pay for her own flights out there..." I stood up as a clip of Papa popped up on the screen and tears rolled down my cheeks "They're going to change the world, everyone has watched those kids grow up in front of our eyes and on screens. They prove everyone wrong everyday, I'm so proud of how far they've came. You're a liar if you hate those kids, they are the future, so is everyone else."

I cried into my hand and Ashton turned to me pulling me into a hug, we all did. We just stood there crying and hugging. "Best Australian Group is 5 Seconds of Summer, touring since 2012, over 300 live shows, and 3 number one albums in over five countries!"

We pulled away and walked on stage wiping our eyes. I hugged the presenters and walked up to the microphone "Wow, I didn't know that was happening and sorry I'm an emotional wreck. Thank you to everyone out there, I know I'm not Australian or anything, but this is definitely my second home I spend roughly six months total out here practicing in Ashton's garage and learning English and playing small gigs. Eight years ago I had know clue what I was talking about being best band of our time, but I just knew these boys were going to be my soulmates and life. We wouldn't be standing here without the support and the cheers from everyone. Like my dad said everyone watched us grow up starting with Luke's first cover to our gigs, to real shows to our first tour. It means a lot and it's a big confrontation for us to win this, thank you." I have a soft smile and we hugged each other again.

Calum came over to me and kissed my cheek and we walked off stage. "You okay?" I nodded slowly. "I would have said something if I knew..."

"It's okay, it just- it hit me really hard..."

The boys nodded "Yeah, definitely did see that coming."
