recap: everyone went over for dinner at ethan's house. jace, grayson, rose mom, rose, ethan's mom, and olivia were there. but what they didn't know was ethan surprised rose and her mom by seeing their twin sisters/daughter after it being years.

chapter 44

ethan;

i look at rose eating her food thinking i'm not looking at her every time she's glancing at me. i'm keeping count on how many time she's doing it so far we are at five.

i can see the small smiles her face forms once she keeps looking back at me or the way my heart warms when she places her hand on top of mine underneath the table.

this is the same girl who makes me laugh the hardest and annoys me when she's mad at me. i don't think i ever seen her this happy not even when she got to see her idol, halsey in concert. i'm glad i got her to see her sisters after years. i know how much she needed this, she doesn't need to continue to carry the guilt with her because it wasn't her fault.

i want her to understand that but only she truly knows how to feel about it all because she's the one who went through it not me.

i look at my mom eating her food very awkwardly thinking really hard in what to say to grayson. i can see his eyes look at her not knowing what to do to or say to the very anxious pregnant mother.

"i want to thank ethan for this special day, not only has he made a dream of mine come true but makes my daughter happy, i'm happy too. i wish you two the best please take good care of her. she's all grown now, she's not my little girl anymore," rose mothers raises her glass tearing up

"you welcome but you don't need to tell me twice i'll do what's necessary to make her happy," i said blushing while looking at her, my girlfriend.

she squeezed my hand.

"i want to thank olivia for helping me find grayson and for the halsey concert when i went to go buy rose nail polish. i also want to say i'm happy you're all in my life seeing all this happen," i go on

now each of us was thanking each other for something or saying what was making us happy so far in life.

grayson clears his throat. "i may be new to all this as you know, i want to thank my boyfriend jace for sticking by my side this whole time to encouraging me to see my family. to ethan who didn't leave me like our father did." i can see the way my moms face turned feeing all sad how she wasn't mentioned

"congratulations on the baby, can't wait to meet my future sibling," he choked out

just like that she tears up looking at him. she gets up and give each other a very awkward hug.

"i would like to thank you all for taking in this handsome guy i call my boyfriend. we both thank you all," jace went after him

now it was olivia.

"i'm happy i'm finally in a stable family where i feel safe and welcomed with opened arms. sadly my mom isn't here with us anymore but i know she's watching over me making sure i'm okay. i can't wait to meet my sister-," she stops
