The next day I paced around my room after lunch, Milo was sat in my desk reviewing a case file for extra credit.
"What am I going to say?" I asked.
"That you're sorry and were wrong," Milo replied, biting the cap of the pen in focus.
"Hey," he said looking up.
"If you were part of Hydra and were trying to hide from the government, where would you go?" Milo inquired making me stop my pacing.
"Well, first, I'd change my name and identity, cut off all my contacts, friends and family, withdraw all my money out in cash, get a burner phone, go off the grid then start a new life in a small town far away, maybe move to another country if it was that serious," I replied, going back to pacing.
"What if..." I trailed off.
"What if he blocked my number?" I finished.
"There's only one way to find out. Stop being a little bitch." Milo said tossing me my phone.
"Okay, fine. I'm doing it, right now, this second..." I said unlocking my phone going to my contacts and hovering my thumb over Peter's name.
Just as I was about to press the call button, Nats head poked her head into my room.
"Hey Milo," she said nodding at him.
"Astrid, you busy?" She asked. Milo gave me a look to which I decided to pretend I didn't see.
"Nope, what's up?" I replied turning off my phone and putting it into my back pocket, sort of relieved she showed up when she did.
"I'm going up to the city to take care of some things, wanna tag along?" she offered.
"The city? Like, New York City?"
"Mhm, you can go see your friends if you want."
"Milo wanna come? I know you just started your break but if you're up for it?" She shrugged.
"I wish but I promised Maria that i'd finish this case study by tonight and I just got started," he explained.
"Fair enough. Astrid?"
"Yea I'll come, let me just grab my stuff."
"Okay, I'll bring the car around," she turned and left, closing the door behind her.
"You know on second thought," Milo began
"I think it'll be better if you to talk to him in person..." he trailed off.
"Mhm, definitely," I replied rummaging around my room grabbing my wallet, phone, and the notebook MJ had left here when everyone came to visit.
"Peter will appreciate it more if you apologize in person, I'm a dude, I'd know."
"Milo, Peter isn't like you, he's shy and hates confrontation, hell, he'd probably prefer hearing a voicemail," I explained.
I threw on a pair of shoes and exited the room.
"Hmm, I don't know, I mean you can't exactly do things like this over the phone." Milo said grabbing his things and following after me.
"And why not?"
"Astrid, I really suggest you take up Tonys offer for those lessons on human sociology,"
"I don't need to be taught how to socialize," I scoffed,
"I disagree, there's still a lot of polishing to be done on your social skills." He remarked.
I made my way to the front alone where Nat was waiting with the car, Milo had split up to head back to his dorm. I waved to Sarah at the front desk and exited the building. Nat's sleek black Corvette was rolled up at the front, I sat in the smooth leather passenger seat and we were off.
