As we walked through the palace, I was more curious about my surroundings and looked up, awestruck at the large towering pillars supporting the palace, I noticed the many statues lined up and down the halls and the many artifacts on display. Eventually, we came to a stop outside a large gold door like the many I had seen lined up and down the seemingly never-ending halls. A guard took out a key, unlocked it, and gestured for me to enter. I pushed the door open to a large sitting room. The door closed behind me and I heard the click of the lock back in place, too distracted by the grand room to turn around. I descended the few stairs into the small foyer making a 360 turn to see the whole room. It was much too grand for a prisoner. I went through a large arc into the adjoined master bedroom with a bathroom attached. I kicked off my shoes and flopped down on the king-sized bed, sinking into the cloud-like material, I let out a large yawn, realizing how tired I was after getting who knows how little sleep I could on the ground for the past two nights.
Before I could realize it, I had let my tired bagged eyes shut and found myself in a dreamless sleep.
LATER.
I awoke to the sound of the door opening and light steps on the stone floor. I rubbed my eyes and sat up from the bed to see I had been tucked in and was now covered by the luxurious silk covers. A girl looked up from setting a tray down in the foyer hearing me stir.
"Ah, you're awake," her soft voice stated.
"What time is it?" I asked, stretching.
"Almost sunset," the young woman replied, she looked no older than 20, with olive skin and brown hair.
"Damn," I whispered.
"Do you happen to know the time difference between Earth and here?" I inquired.
"Three moons,"
"I see," I mumbled, not quite understanding but too tired to bother asking for clarification.
"Can I ask who you are?" I asked after a moment.
"I'm Angelina Foe, your handmaid,"
"What?"
"Handmaid, its-"
"I know what handmaid is, just, why? There is no need."
"I do what is asked of me. I do not question why." Angelina said.
We both stared at each other for a moment,
"I have brought you supper. If there is anything else, ask the guards for me," she said, turning and exiting the room without another word.
The mention of dinner made me realize just how hungry I was. I got up and went to the hot tray of meat and veggies, a jug of water which I quickly finished, and a plate of fruits.
After I had eaten, I walked to the window and looked out, it was overlooking on a large garden I could not see the end to.
"Back to square one," I mumbled, sighing and walking away from the window. I found myself walking over to a large bookcase in the sitting room.
I picked up a book titled 'The Asgardian history' and flopped down on the plush couch in the foyer, deciding to pass the time doing what I do best, reading.
Angelina soon came back to pick up my empty tray. I attempted to talk to her but she quickly dismissed me and left.
I continued reading into the night but forced myself to try and sleep early along with the sun in order to adjust to the time difference.
After a few restless hours, I willed myself into sleep.
I awoke the next morning at sunrise. A red-orange glow lit up the golden room. I stayed in bed until the sun had fully risen. I was in the bathroom washing my face when there was a knock at the door followed by the sound of the door unlocking.
