The next day, life at the Faustini household was hectic in preparation for the fundraiser. Amara was the last to join the table. She caught eye of Elena's bright diamond studded watch. "Who gave you that?" She asked, Elena ignored her until she noticed everyone glazing at her.

"A friend." Elena answered simply.

Catalina, who sat next to Elena, perked up. "Oh right, so that's what was in the box." Catalina grabbed Elena's arm. "Say, this friend must like you a lot."

Elena turned to her father who sat right across from her, she smirked smugly. "It's nothing father wouldn't get for us." She said patronisingly.

Valentino was about to throw a comeback in his defence, but the nanny placed Elio down at the table. Amara put her head down and left the room.

Donatello laughed. "Jesus, someone doesn't like Esteban's cooking." Elena too laughed, Catalina smacked him.

"I think now would be a great time to remind you I want you all on your best behaviour tonight. You know how important this event is to your mother." Valentino began as Elena yawned loudly. "Oh, sorry, am I boring you?"

"You tell us this every year. You could at least try act like it isn't about the coverage and sales." Elena sipped her coffee and Donatello too snickered. "Maybe if we were allowed to stay home..."

"I will not allow such." Valentino answered. "Why wouldn't you want to go, Elena? You'll have your friend Roman there and many more. Don't you want to go outside, catch up with people?"

"She sees Roman every other day of the week, father." Donatello interrupted.

"That may be so, but not in such a formal setting." Valentino answered as he stood up. "Hell, you can even invite your friend. But I guess if they can afford to gift you with a diamond watch, they're probably on the guest list. Now, once I'm done with speaking to Amara, I'll have your outfits."

Elena rolled her eyes. "How generous." She said sarcastically, stopping Valentino in his tracks. "No really, you shouldn't have."

"Well maybe if you showed me your designs, I could've made something to your preference." He sassed back before finally leaving the room.

Elena, fuming, got up and headed to her room. Elena's room was located nearby Amara and Catalina's on the third and top floor. As she came close to her own room, she overheard sniffling from Amara's room. She peaked in and saw Amara weeping.

Instead of going back to her room, she headed back downstairs at a quickened pace. She turned into her father's study, slamming the door open carelessly. "You are despicable!" She yelled as Valentino was taken aback. Claudio Gaston, who was also in the room, gulped. "When you said you were going to speak to Amara, I didn't expect you to make her cry, I should have, because you don't deserve the right to have the best assumed of you."

"Elena-" Valentino interrupted.

"No, don't Elena me." She snapped. "Your children are not your accessories, we deserve to be treated better and not thrown out because we don't benefit your publicity."

"Elena you clearly don't know what's going on here." He said calmly, especially in comparison to Elena.

"Oh so what? She was brought to tears by the generosity of you sharing one of your tacky designs with her?" Elena shook her head. "You don't deserve the privilege of seeing my designs. No man who makes his daughter cry shall receive the blessing of laying their eyes upon my designs." She said before she back tracked out of the room, making her point before either Valentino or Claudio could refute it.
