Seven

Selena has been coping well in school over the past few weeks. She met this wonderful girl, Ava, at her chemistry class and they hit it off becoming good friends.

Ava: Hey Selena, shall we do something fun today?

Selena: What do you have in mind?

Ava: I was thinking movie and junk food. Maybe at your place?

Ava lives in the girls dorm on campus and the idea of hanging out in comfort is exciting.

Selena: Sure, my brother is having his friends over for game night. We can hang in my room.

Ava: That is great! You sure your brother won't mind?

Selena: No worries. He won't. He will be busy anyway. I'll text you the address.

Ava: Awesome. I'll go grab a few stuff and meet you there at 7?

Selena nodded and chuckled at her excited friend. Both of them share similar interests in books and studying and it is no surprised they became close friends. Plus, Ava is super cute with a very bubbly personality which makes talking to her so easy.

Selena went to the sit on the bleachers by the field and opened up her books. For whatever reason, she felt calm there and able to focus on her work.

She was so focus on a problem in front of her that she didnt notice someone walking and sitting down next to her until he calls her out.

Leo: You know, I have seen girls up here a lot but never one who has her nose in books.

Selena turned towards him and smirks.

Selena: Well, I wonder then what those girls are here for? There is simply nothing of interest here to see.

Leo clutch his heart playfully and gave her a smile.

Selena instantly chuckled. Leo is so easy to talk to. Ever since they met at the cafe, he never fail to make her laugh or smile everytime they come over for game nights or have lunch.

Leo: I'm done with practice. Tony had to grab some stuff and he say he will meet us back. Shall we go? I'll take you home?

Selena: (feeling awkward) Uh. It's ok Leo, I'll take the bus. I still have a bit to do here.

Leo: Selly (his nickname for her which she hates but he continues to use it anyway), we are going to the same place. It makes more sense for me to drive you there. I can wait for you till you're done.

Selena: Oh no! It's ok. I really don't want to impose but sure it does make more sense. Let me pack up.

Leo waited for her to collect her things and they started to walk to his car. Along the way, they were stopped by a group of girls when a tall and pretty girl suddenly wrapped her arms around Leo's neck.

Selena looked away uncomfortably.

Natasha: Hey sweetie! I've missed you. Where have you been?

Leo looks at Selena and pulled Natasha's hands from around him.

Leo: Hey Nat. I'm kinda busy now. I'll see you around.

Natasha looks pissed at the rejection and looks to Selena.

Natasha: What pitiful creature have u picked up Leo? Surely, you have standards?

The group of girls giggled.

Selena felt her face flushed and she started to get angry at the condescending remark.

Before she could retort, Leo snapped.

Leo: Watch it Nat! You do not speak as such about Selena. You don't come close to half the person she is. She is not only beautiful but she has the heart which you clearly don't. So just back off.

He stared at Natasha and put his arms around Selena's shoulders and pulled her away.

Leo: Let's go Selly.

Selena has no time to react to the situation and followed Leo. She manages to see a very pissed off Natasha and she can't help but smiled.

When they were out of sight, Selena removed Leo's hands from her shoulders.

Leo looked at her slightly confused.

Selena: Thanks for standing up for me back there. You really shouldn't have. I could take care of myself.

She looked up at him smiling slightly.

Leo touched her cheek and kissed her forehead which shocked Selena.

Leo: I meant what I say back there. You are beautiful and you are really kind and funny and smart.

He looked down at her lips and started to inch closer. Selena pushed him gently and cleared her throat.

Selena: We should go. Tony will not be happy if I came home late.

She turned and walked away.

Leo looked dejected but smiled it off. He walked towards Selena and they drove off. The rest of the drive was silent with Selena looking out the window.

Nathan was walking to his car to get to Tony's for game night when he heard Selena's voice. He stopped and peeped to the other corridor and saw Selena talking to Leo.

He heard Selena saying she could take care of herself and Leo starts to touch her face and kiss her forehead.

Nathan clenched his fists and looks enraged. He doesn't like to see Selena with some other guy. Let alone Leo! His best friend.

Nathan: (thinking) How dare he touch her?

He then saw her push Leo away and left.

Nathan smiled at her actions and watch them get into Leo's car and drive off. He is still mad but not as mad knowing she pushed Leo away.
