THE DAY EVERYTHING WENT DARK...Ayanda took a deep breath and tried not to panic when she noticed her daughter was not by her side. She quietly began looking for her around the shop she was in and asked other shoppers if they had seen her.
'' Sorry have you seen my little girl? She's seven years old.....''
The strangers arm she had gently grabbed was roughly pulled away as they looked at her as if she had lost her mind. Tears quickly flowed out of her eyes, she too felt she was going insane. She stood in the middle of the huge mall trying to think rationally and retrace her movements but her memory seemed to be a blurr.
'' Sorry sir can you help me? Please?"
The security guard turned with a smile on her face, making her anxiety a little better.
'' I lost my little girl. She's about this high, seven years old and is wearing a yellow dress with flowers on her chest. With pink shoes and white socks. Please help me find her. She was with me just now but I can't seem to find her.''
The security guard spoke into his walkie talkie before taking her upstairs to the security room. They rolled back surveillance tapes of every shop they had visited and she spotted her in the children's clothing shop.
'' There she is.''
Her daughter then disappeared behind a round rail of clothing. Ayanda ran out against the security's advice and ran back to the shop. Where she frantically searched for her daughter while the workers and shoppers looked at her worryingly.
'' No! No! No!''
She screamed when at every rack she checked she could not find her daughter. She grabbed her head in tears and frustration as every clothing on the racks turned into the her daughter's dress. Somebody was playing a cruel joke on her.
PRESENT DAY
''Baby, Baby."
Axel shook her.
"Wake up.''
She sat up startled with tears on her face. Axel wiped the tears away from her cheeks and kissed her forehead as she wrapped her short thick hands around his waist then he wrapped his around her shoulders, holding her in comfort.
'' It's the same dream?''
Ayanda silently nodded her head yes. Since her daughter went missing nine months ago, Ayanda has not been able to get a good night's sleep. Star went missing while they were out shopping for her now three year old twin boys who had stayed behind with her husband Axel.
'' They are becoming more frequent though.''
She could hear the worry in his voice but could never understand why he was worried or if he was neccessary worried about her.
'' Yeah and scarier.''
She added before jumping out of bed, after she was calm and after checking the digital watch on her smartphone to find it was time to get her and her husband ready for work. It was her weekday morning ritual, she got her husband's work suits ready before waking up the twins and feeding them. She helped her husband get dressed after dressing ber children and plucking them infront of the television.
'' You going into work today?''
'' Yes. I have a wedding cake order to get done by today. The kids are coming with me since the babysitter is sick.''
'' Since when?''
'' Do you ever listen when I talk to you. I told you like two days ago. Why did you think I have been staying home for the past two days.''
'' Just thought you were not up to dealing with work. I'm sorry it must have slipped my mind.''
Ayanda shook her head and continued with her task.
