' Hey babe, what are you doing here?'
Axel was surprised to find his wife seated in his office after his meeting. As far as he knew she was supposed to be at work or having lunch with her friends. He could not remember.
' Are you available to do lunch?'
' I thought you were doing lunch with your girls?'
' Mxm!'
Axel was never one to meddle in his wife's business but he did not like to see her sad and by the look of things he will have to pry to get it out of her. He stood up, kissed her forehead before he sat down on the desk.
' Tell daddy what got you pissed. What happened between you and your friends?'
' Fuck if I know.'
' You know you need to tell me more than that.'
Ayanda sat up and put her phone away.
' I really don't know. Each of them came to me crying but when I offer my opinion they throw your affair back in my face.'
' What do mean?'
' All three of my so called friends came over to me and told me about their problems. Then when I try to give my opinion, they tell me "I ain't trying to end up like you."
Ayanda began tearing up as she spoke and he did not like it.
' Like what the hell?! Firstly why come to me crying if you feel like I failed at being a wife. I'm out here trying to be a good friend but I get attacked. I do not understand why they keep throwing jabs at me like it's my fault that you stepped out. I am not the one who went to them crying about their husband's and I do not understand what our marital problems have to do with theirs.'
' Did you talk to them about their behaviour.'
' No. I don't have to, they know what I've gone through these past year for them to use it against me. You know what's worse about this is that Sadé and Emily said the same thing. Neveah, I expect some foul shit like that but not them. They know what I've been through and Sadé has been sort of in the same boat as me with Omari's past. Now that they're all great she treats me like shit. How could they?! '
She was full out crying and Axel helped her stand up before sitting down and sitting her on his lap to console her.
' Maybe there's a misunderstanding between and if you all just calmed down and talked about it-'
' No babe what misunderstanding could lead them to say that. The only misunderstanding here is that I thought I had friends but what kind of friends kick you when you're down. I finally understand what kind of friends they are and I don't need them. '
As his wife cried onto his chest, he wondered what was going on. Like in any friendship there were fights but it was never this bad and felt bad for what she was going through because of him.
