~~~~~3 months later~~~~~
Nathan's POV:
After 3 months Kayla was 4 months pregnant and it was finally the day we got to find it if we were having a boy or a girl. Kayla and I had a mutual decision that we wanted to know the gender. We were driving to the hospital right now with the boys and girls right behind us. Kayla had put her hair into a side braid and was wearing a grey t-shirt, white mid-thigh shorts, a pair of nude 2 inch heels with a cute, little white lace bow on the front and my grey beanie. She held a scrapbook we had made together for the baby. We were both actually kind of worried about Kayla's pregnancy.....
1.) Even though her stomach was rounding it wasn't rounding out as much as most pregnant women's usually do.
2.) Her feet and ankles weren't swelling at all.
And,
3.) She wasn't having any mood swings.
Both of us were a little concerned about these things and we had planned to ask Dr. Chang about them. We arrived at the hospital and park the cars next to each other. We walked inside and waited in the waiting room,
"Sykes Family." Dr. Chang called we all stood up and walked into the ultrasound room. The boys and girls sat in the chairs she had left there for us, Kayla laid on the medical bed and I sat in the chair next to the bed. Dr. Chang lifted Kayla's shirt up a bit and rubbed the wand covered in gel over her stomach. I held Kayla's hand as the black and white picture showed up. Kelsie and Nareesha were filming everything whilst crying,
"So have you two thought of any names yet?" Dr. Chang asked us. We both nodded,
"If it's a girl we've decided to name her Anna-Grace Lynn Sykes and if it's a boy, Alexander Jacob Sykes." I said proudly. Dr. Chang nodded and moved the wand a little more to the right,
"Well that's strange...." Dr. Chang said quietly. My protective instincts started kicking in,
"What? What's wrong?" I asked in a panic. Kayla squeezed my hand to make me calm down,
"Nothing dear, nothing, it just looks like you'll be able to use both names, congratulations Mr. And Mrs. Sykes, your having twins!" She said enthusiastically. Oh my God, this was brilliant!
"Twins?" Kayla asked excitedly. Dr. Chang nodded,
"Yep, a girl and a boy!" She said.
Everyone congratulated the both of us. I helped Kayla wipe off the gel from her stomach and she was able to pull her shirt down. I careful helped her sit up. Kelsie, Nareesha and Kayla started getting really excited about the babies,
"Oh my goodness now you guys can help me shop! We need all sorts of things! A two-baby stroller, 2 cribs, 2 changing tables...." Kayla listed off. Of course I already knew having two babies was going to be hard work but I was absolutely 100% willing to put in all of the effort to have my baby girl and my babies happy.
"I see you have a scrapbook, would you like some pictures?" Dr. Chang asked us. We both nodded and she gave us five different shots. I opened the scrapbook to the Ultrasound Page which was the second page and we inserted three pictures in the slots. They weren't even fully conceived and I could already tell that they were both beautiful,
"I can tell you two with have very beautiful babies, you both are very pretty." Dr. Chang said with a smile.
"Do you have any questions?" asked us. We both nodded,
"We have a few actually....." I said. Kayla asked her all of the questions and Dr. Chang simply laughed a bit,
"Don't worry, the reason why your ankles and feet aren't swelling is because she isn't moving as much as pregnant women usually do, the reason you aren't having mood swings is because every woman's pregnancy is different, and your tummy isn't rounding out as much because you are definitely skinnier than most women are when they conceive children...." She explained. I nodded,
"So there's nothing I need to worry about?" Kayla asked as she stepped off of the medical bed. Dr. Chang nodded,
"Nope, as far as I am concerned, you are a very normal and healthy pregnant woman and this is a very normal and healthy pregnancy! Especially for a case of twins. Your due date should be somewhere around November 2nd." She winked. I let out a breath that I didn't know I was holding in,
"Thank The Lord....." I breathily chuckled. Everyone laughed. Kayla giggled,
"Awww, you look so cute when you worry." She said in a baby voice as she kissed my nose. I chuckled as we walked out of the hospital,
"Yeah well I must have looked irresistible in there because I was wetting myself." I laughed. Kayla giggled as we all piled in our cars,
"So babies, shall we go shopping?" I winked at Kayla as we drove off. She giggled,
"Sure." She giggled. I smiled and texted Siva,
'Hey mate Kayla, Anna-Grace, Alexander and I are going shopping, we'll meet you guys at our house.' -Nathan
After a few minutes I got a reply:
'Lol alright you four have fun!' -Max
I chuckled. Kayla looked at me and giggled,
"What?" She asked. I looked over at her and shook my head while I smiled,
"Nothing sweetie, let's go shopping." I said. Kayla clapped her hands a little and giggled. I smiled and held her hand tightly. We arrived at the baby store. They sold everything baby related, formula, bottles, strollers, clothes. You name it, they got it. We arrived and parked near the front. We unbuckled and walked inside hand in hand with sunglasses on.
We decided to first look for the things that would need to be built and the essential things as well. So we first headed over to the cribs and. We needed two so we got two of the same kind. Two white newborn baby cribs. It came with the mattresses so that was one less thing to worry about. We got baby blankets: one baby pink and brown and the other baby blue an brown. A few picture frames for the extra ultrasound pictures, two massive stuffed animals: a big, brown monkey for Alexander and a big, white teddy bear with a pink now around its neck for Anna-Grace, two brown wicker baskets, nappies (diapers), dummies (pacifiers), baby powder, no-tear baby shampoo, baby soap. And a few other things.
"Ok that should be it." Kayla said. I nodded,
"Alright, let's pay and go home so I can set all this stuff up and make the lads help me." I chuckled. Kayla giggled as we walked up to the register. I paid the man and I put everything in the car. I was definitely not letting Kayla do any hard labor while she is carrying out children. She's going through enough right now without having to do work. I closed the trunk and put the trolley (cart) back with the others.
We drove to a hardware and paint store next and I bought a can of paint primer, two cans of Skye blue paint, squeeze bottles of chocolate brown, cobalt blue, magenta, yellow white and light green paint, 2 large paint brushes, 3 medium paint brushes, 3 rolling paint sponges and a few paint trays. I also got cotton balls as well. I had something very special planned for Kayla, as well as the babies in the future.
I put the bag of brushes, sponges and bottles of paint in the back along with the cans of paint and the primer. As I got in the drivers seat again Kayla looked at me strangely,
"What's all the paint for baby?" She asked me as I started to drive home. I shook my head,
"Nothing baby, don't worry about it, just relax.." I said as I rubbed her hand with the pad of my thumb. She nodded,
"Ok." She sighed as she leaned back and closed her eyes. I looked over at her relaxed face. So beautiful...
