You know how whenever you go into a cinema and you get popcorn and they put the butter on the very top and the rest of the popcorn underneath is flavourless? Yeah, I hate that.
It's like the top is super sweet and buttery and then the rest is plain and yuck. So, it was a very pleasant surprise to see that the cashier pumped the butter in, in layers.
But what was more surprising was to see that we weren't the only ones here to see the midnight screening of Deadpool two.
The boys and Riley showed up about five minutes after us, Isaac bouncing away happily much like how Rainer was on the car ride here.
Isaac spotted us by the candy bar and came barrelling over, excitement clear in his features. Anyone would've thought he was a little six-year-old boy trapped in a seventeen-year old's body.
"Hey! Youse ready?! He exclaimed, eyes wide and smile huge.
"Uh-huh," Jess and I said laughing at his excitement.
"YES!" Rainer replied eagerly at the same time.
The boys followed in tow and came to stand around us in a circle.
"Didn't know youse would be here too," I stated.
"Likewise." Xavier murmured and sent daggers towards Frasier.
I'm not getting involved. I won't get involved. Wait, does that mean Peyton has a babysitter tonight? Or does she only get babysat on certain nights?
Wait, where're Xavier's parents? Maybe they're like mine.
Absent.
"What a coincidence!" Frasier feigned shock.
The other guys and Riley laughed at Xavier's scowling expression. Even Jess and Rainer were laughing, while I was left confused.
After everyone else got their tickets and snacks, we made our way to our seats. Taking up a whole row by ourselves up the back of the cinema – Isaac knew the cashier.
Filing into our seats, I happened to just end up sitting next Xavier after Jess asked to swap seats, "Can we swap? I'm sharing with Rainer." She gestured to the large popcorn in her lap.
I sunk into my seat quietly letting the ads play out on the big screen before the movie finally started.
Somewhere during the movie, I had ended up curled up into the chair with my head resting on Xavier's shoulder. Have aliens been controlling my body and erasing my memory? Cause I certainly don't remember this happening.
Not that I'm complaining. I just think it would be quite beneficial if I remember how I manage to get certain situations like now.
"That was awesome!" Isaac stated animatedly.
"I still think the first's the best," Mason rebuked. "but it was pretty funny." He admitted.
A symphony of agreements went around, everyone finding the Ryan Reynolds wit and sense of humour amusing.
