Four hours later and I found myself sitting with Xavier on the double hammock in the backyard. Peyton and Tyler fast asleep on the mattress we pulled out for them after dinner.
We had a comfortable silence surrounding us, the brightness of the moon and stars shining down over us. The wind blowing, swinging us without one of us having to do it.
"How's the song going?" Xavier asks breaking the silence, his eyes straying from the night sky to my face.
I guess that's one of the things I really like about Xavier, whenever he asks me something, he always listens. He looks at me with genuine interest and he actually looks at me. I get his full undivided attention.
"Good, we've got a lot of work to do though before it's ready. We're practicing tomorrow afternoon." I say making a mental note not to forget.
"What song are you singing?" His eyes still on me.
I look up to him with a sly smile, "Wouldn't you like to know." I say knowingly.
"Yes, I would like to know. For someone that still owes me a sing-off, I wouldn't want you to embarrass yourself in front of the class. I know Frasier can be ruthless when given the opportunity." His eyes lighting up with a bright smile.
God, he has a gorgeous smile!
"It's a surprise." I said before adding, "Plus you'd be the one that gets embarrassed for their singing, not me. I might have to send the video to Frasier and see what he says." I smile wickedly.
His eyes narrow at me, "You wouldn't."
"Try me." I taunted.
Before I could even think about getting up, Xavier's hands attacked my sides, tickling me. I squirmed and started to laugh uncontrollably while simultaneously trying to stop his torturous hands.
"What were you saying?" He teased not stopping.
"St-st-op!" I squealed when his hands brushed against the most ticklish part of my waist.
I kicked my legs out, accidentally kneeing Xavier in the chest. He lost his balance and we both fell out the hammock, landing with a loud thud on the grass.
"Ow," We groaned simultaneously.
We both turned to look at each other before we broke out into an uncontrollable fit of laughter.
"Sorry," I said apologetically through my laughter.
"Don't worry 'bout it," He said through his laughter while looking at me.
I sober up pretty quickly when I realise just how close we are together. Our faces barely an inch away from each other and my legs slung over his from our fall.
Heat flushes to my cheeks when I find that Xavier's already looking at me. His eyes like the stars above, shining with something so foreign to me.
