Walking out of my first class with Jessica and Rainer by my side, I didn't feel so alone, but I couldn't ignore the uneasy feeling slowly sprouting in the pit of my stomach. Something was going to happen, it always does.
The entire lesson I could feel eyes on my back and the hushed whispers around the room, "who's the new girl?" and "what's her story?", that caused my ears to burn.
Is that really vain of me to think that?
Jess had asked for my schedule to see if we had any more classes together, which turns out I had at least one of them for almost all of my classes except for two. So lucky enough for me, the first two people I happen to meet, have most of the same classes as me and I won't end up completely alone for all of them.
Rainer and I had Music next and we silently walked to class together. She was quite shy and kept her head down, in the span of 55 minutes, I could tell that she and Jess were complete opposites.
Jessica was the outspoken and sociable one of the pair, initiating conversations with others and easily likeable. Whereas Rainer was shy and quiet, allowing others to do the talking and socialising for her instead. The silence between us was thick and awkward, I could tell she was just shy and didn't know how to strike up a conversation.
So, I guess I'm gonna have to start this conversation.
"So, what's Miss Rivera like?" I question giving her a reassuring smile.
"She's really nice. Very relaxed and young." She said in a soft voice, adjusting the strap of her shoulder bag.
We turned another corner and walked down the hallway lined with more doors before walking through the door at the end of the corridor on the right.
There were only a few kids in already, none of which I recognised before. Miss Rivera was already here bustling about with papers behind her desk. The class seemed smaller than most of the other classes thus far.
She was beautiful with her ashy brown hair pulled up into a loose messy bun, medium build, and toned arms and legs. She was clad in a simple polka dot blouse that ties around the back, tucked into a navy-blue skirt that fell a couple of inches above the knee. There was a thick brown belt around her waist with a bow at the front and brown cute yet simple sandals.
She turned on her heels to greet the class and her eyes landed on me. "Hello, you must be Paisley. I'm Miss Rivera and welcome to the best class in school!" She smiled warmly at me as the curious eyes of those in the room also fell upon me. I gave a shy nod and smile before taking my seat next to Rainer.
"What instrument do you play?" Rainer asked me.
"I know a bit of guitar and piano and I sing a bit as well."
"Omg, that's perfect! No one in this class actually sings, they all play the guitar or piano, but you can do it all." This is the most excitement I've seen out of her all morning. "You can sing for the assignment!" She squealed.
"Oh, no. I don't know about that." I held my hands up. Singing is something I just do for me. I've had enough troubles with it before at a previous school and I'd rather not go through that again, which I'm sure could happen at this school. Probably much worse than my other one.
The lesson breezed by with Miss Rivera letting us free to do anything, the only disruptions came from two guys that I saw this morning with Xavier. They kept cracking jokes and would wink at me every time I turn around. They had also walked in fifteen minutes late. I hope the rest of my lessons breeze by like this because that would be wonderful.
Rainer was nice enough and took me to my next class before leaving to go to hers. I sadly didn't have Rainer nor Jess in my next class – AP Trig.
I had AP English last. It's pretty sad how I managed to get into AP subjects when I think about it. I had a lot of time on my hands whenever I had moved places and I had no friends to go out with at most places, not that I really wanted to go either. So instead, I'd spent countless lonely afternoons, nights, and weekends studying and getting a head start. I figured it'll be good for me to boost my GPA score and when I start applying to colleges. Even now though, I'd still much prefer to stay home and binge watch movies in comfy clothes snuggled up with Ace, then getting dressed up and going out.
By the time I got to my class which was on the other side of the school, the classroom was mostly full and there were only a few seats left. Sitting down at one in the front, I took my pen and notebook out of my bag just as the teacher walked through the door, stacks of papers in hand.
Mr Kim, who I found out was the teacher, was busy organising the mountains of paper into order when my eyes landed on a familiar character striding through the door, devilish smirk in full force.
Great! The stupid smirk is already promising mischief. Let's just hope it's not directed at me this time and some other poor person that's used to his antics. Sorry. Not sorry.
