"Come on, we have to start practicing. We only have a few more weeks until we have to perform." Rainer said as we walked out of music our last class for the day.
"We will, I promise. Tomorrow?" I ask.
"Where?"
"My house? My parents are out, and I have a small music room set up." I offer and Rainer nods her head approvingly.
"Okay, see you tomorrow." We share a quick before we both go our separate ways.
You know how I mentioned before that soon my mom would stop dropping and picking Tyler up from school? Well, I was right. Once dad left on another business trip last week, my mom thought it was time for me to take over that duty.
So, now I have to get up and extra half hour just to make sure I have Tyler ready for school, with a packed lunch so we can make it to both his school and mine on time.
The adjustment has been anything but easy since I really, really miss my old morning routine that got me a warm pastry and hot chocolate to go.
I think I'm having withdrawals.
Walking to Tyler's school, I look around the front courtyard for him. Having no luck after most of the kids have been picked up already, I start to panic.
"Tyler!" I yell rushing around the corner of the building.
"Tyler! Where're you?!" I'm standing in the middle of the courtyard, teacher's looking at me like I'm crazy.
Why won't anyone help me!?
I can't lose him! He should be sitting on the bench on his game. That's where he always is when I get her. He never goes anywhere. He's always sitting on that bench!
Rounding the left side of the courtyard indistinct talking by the road catches my attention. Turning, I see Tyler over by a black car, a guy and little girl with him. I relax slightly but turn on my heel straight for Tyler.
"Tyler! What were you thinking?!" I scream a little hysterically.
Getting closer I notice that it's actually Xavier and Peyton with him, but he still hasn't looked up to meet my eyes. If anything, he burrowed further down into his jumper.
I'm glad he's at least with Tyler and not some complete stranger.
I crouch down, gripping his shoulders and shaking him. "Oh my god! What happened?" I asked seeing the black eye he gained today.
"Who did this to you?" I ask frantically, checking over the rest of his body for any more bruises.
"I fell." He replied, jerking his head out of my hand.
"No, you didn't." I notice his now broken Nintendo switch hanging loosely in his hand.
"Would you stop! I fell, that's all! Geese who are you? Mom?" Tyler bursts frustrated at me throwing what's left of his Nintendo at the pavement.
