Chapter Three

I'm in LA promoting the show whilst Alex does some press in New York where I'll join him in a day or two but I have an appearance on Late Night with James Corden. I'm finishing up hair and makeup when there's a knock on my dressing room door and standing there is Richard "Weird coincidence us being on the same show" he says "Yeah this was booked weeks ago so I didn't know who the other guests were until today" I say "How long you in town?" he asks "Two more days but my dad has booked me out already he's having separation anxiety" I say "Maybe when we're both back in the UK we can have lunch or something" he says "Sure I have to get dressed now but I'll see you out there" I say and he leaves.

I'm all dressed and ready to go so once I'm introduced I join Richard and Aaron Taylor Johnson and James "Freya welcome first time on the show and you've recently moved to the UK" James says "Thank you for having me and I did. My mom spent most of her childhood in the UK and I needed to escape LA for awhile not that I don't love it here I grew up here but it's kinda intense sometimes" I say "I get that. You started out as a model like your mum at a young age but moved to acting in your early teens why the change" he says and shows a picture of me when I was five or six that my dad took "My dad's a photographer it's how he met my mom and every little girl wants to be like their mom and she was my idol and I still model but I was doing drama in school and I fell in love with it. I love being able to become someone else and tell incredible stories" I say "Is it true that you get training to make sure you don't bad mouth any potential brands you want to work with" he says "Yeah I got press trained at thirteen after my first lead tv show where we had alot of clothes from a certain brand and I hands down hated everything they made me wear people can probably guess who it was but I couldn't say anything bad about them in interviews" I say "Can you demonstrate like if I asked you your opinion on the bodyguard and if people should watch your show or Richards" he says "I have yet to watch the bodyguard but I have heard wonderful things and I admire Richard and Keely their both incredible actors and as we are both Netflix shows I think we have a duty to support each other and not show any preference for either of our shows because there's too much negativity in the acting world lately and we just need to work together and support each other cause at the end of the day we're all doing the same job and love doing it" I say "Incredible" he says "The key is to completely change the subject and then they'll forget what they asked you in the first place" I say "I am utterly confused and have completely forgotten what I asked. Onto to the show it's premiering on Netflix next week you've joined the season as a new character tell us about the show for anyone who hasn't seen it and who you play" he says "It's based on the series of books by Bernard Cornwell and its set before England was established in a time where Danish vikings arrived in what was soon to be England and they want it for themselves and we follow Uthred of Bebbanburg who was a Saxon lord turned Dane who wants to reclaim what's his but he ends up serving the king of Wessex Alfred the Great and he makes alot of sacrifices to protect the people he cares about and he loses alot on his journey to reclaim his home. I play Ellinor who doesn't actually exist in the books but Bernard has written me an amazing back story so I'm honoured and I am a Dane with a secret which is later revealed and causes a little bit of drama and I befriend the kings daughter Aethelflaed aka my bestie in real life Millie and I encounter Uthred and his men and I become a love interest for one of them. Watch the show to find out who" I say "We have a picture of you in costume was this comfortable" he says and shows the picture "This is one of my costumes I change a few episodes in which I prefer to this one cause we were shooting from November to June like they did for season two I think and the material of that dress is quite light so you can imagine Budapest in winter and when it's raining it's not ideal but my costume is later episodes I think I'm allowed to say this if not I apologise please don't fire me is a light tunic type top with these rather tight trousers and this leather type corset and this heavy faux fur coat/jacket which is also uncomfortable in warm weather but I love the boots I wear and my weapons which are these specially designed throwing knives and a sword of course there was months of training before I started which was fun" I say "We have a target set up care to demonstrate for us. Maybe teach us" he says "Of course" I say and we move off the stage to where they've set up a target "Don't try this at home. So you want to have a relaxed stance straight posture and if your right handed like me place your right foot forward a little and have the left behind it slightly. Hold the blade side towards you cause it's gonna spin obviously and you'd start with a half spin for a beginner which is why we hold it blade side and you pull your throwing arm back towards your ear and throw but as I'm not a beginner we're gonna go for a whole spin so you switch your grip to handle end same technique and throw" I say and it lands perfectly in the centre "You can add more spins depending on your distance from your target" I say and move further back and go for a double spin and it lands perfectly "I'm genuinely a little bit scared of you right now" he says "So was everyone on set cause I got really good really fast and it's terrifying and exhilarating at the same time" I say "I think I may injure an audience member if I try so we're gonna leave it at that. We'll be right back" he says and we break for commercial "Remind me to never get on your bad side" Richard says "Smart move" I say.

I get my hair and makeup touched up in the break and we come back and James talks to Aaron and Richard and shows a cute picture of Richard when he was younger and explains his mum's nicknames for him and his dad. We finish up and it's time to go home I'm staying with my dad whilst I'm here and I have a car waiting but I stop by Richards dressing room before I leave "I'm officially mortified" he says "Don't be and just so you know I thought you were a cute kid and I judge a person by what's in the inside than what's on the outside. Nice seeing you again" I say and I leave.
