I kept running, weaving through the guests at the Væn ball,  who were completely unaware of what was going on outside and having fun. I ran, ignoring Ater's call to me and I finally got to a corner. What did Kad mi-el tell me to do? Follow the note.

I brought out the note from my dad. Left door downwards, turn right.

The only door inside the great hall was  behind the musicians and I ran towards the door. someone grabbed my hand.I turned to try defend myself and realised there was no need.

"Hey. I went back to the balcony but you were not there." Plette said

" I'm sorry" I said "I have somewhere I need to be"

"Um - its okay. So I'll see you when you're done."

"Yeah. I've got to go now"

I felt bad running off and leaving Plette; that won't give me any points in the the boyfriend department. Wait. Is she my girlfriend now? Guess I should have asked before running off.

I opened the door and went down the stairs to and  when I turned right I walked down the corridor and finally saw a door to my left. I  knocked on the door. I heard movement on the other side of the door and then the door opened a little.

"Thank goodness you're okay" my father said, opening the door quickly. I entered inside and he shut the door just as fast.

"Father. What is going on?" I asked

"I cannot explain everything to you now my son."

"Well, what can you explain?"

"The city is on the verge of a large scale invasion by most of the other non - Id'ean desert lords"

"You sound like you have known for weeks and you even know who exactly is invading" I asked "why didn't you stop them"

"I am not in a position to explain that situation to you, son."

"Then who is?" I asked, my voice already at that high pitch I usually try to hide.

At that moment, the door was opened and my saviour thus far stepped in.

"Is everything okay Kad mi-el? " Father asked

"Yes. But we don't have much time." he replied

I wonder how he managed to take out five guys, but I also remembered that I didn't know much about Kad mi-el Tenar.

"Well" my father said "This is where I leave you"

"Why? come with me" I said, my eyes already tearing up.

" I cannot.  I want you to know that everything I did was out of love for you and my people."

"Father. Protect Ater, Asena and Plette" I didn't want the list to grow too long.

"I doubt Plette will need any protection. The rest will be fine. I need you to play your role effectively"

I wanted to tell him that i didn't even know my role in all of this, but I decided to say nothing.

Father then hugged me, something we usually did not do.  He then hugged his best friend. Kad mi-el then said " I wish I could stay and fight, you need every man."

Father smiled "You of all people know that your job is harder. Kerös is the wildcard. He will change everything. tell him what to do."

Father went for the door, Pulling out his shan  (spear with  a semi long blade at its end), he headed for the door.

"Survive Kerös.  Save Id'ea." he said on his way out.

He then closed the door behind him. "So where to now." I asked Kad mi-el

"We have to go right about now." Kad mi-el said looking towards the window.

I then heard the first horn sound, blown with urgency. Once for returning raiders. I hoped they would stop there, making this some long joke by my dad and Kad mi-el but then, to my disappointment, I  heard the second blow of the horn. Twice for an Invasion.  I knew then that this was no joke, and it was all over.
